Robin Williams death touched me. He was gone way too soon

@cherokeepatti That was so tragic!

Elvis Presley, I was really young and my dad had promised that he was going to take me to a concert shortly before he passed.
Chris Cornell hit me hard for some reason
craig7 · 70-79, M
None that really "bothered" me as such, though some certainly grabbed my attention at the time - the first that did was Marilyn Monroe in 1962.
craig7 · 70-79, M
@SW-User I also remember Clark Gable's death being reported,as I recall it was the first item on the TV news here in Australia at the time, but I wasn't so aware of who he was back then - but I remember my mother reacting to it.
originnone · 61-69, M
@craig7 I remember my mother being upset when Jack Cassidy died. I barely knew who he was.

His idol was John Barrymore. You can see it in the way he carried himself.

Would it bother a celebrity if I died?
Bignakedguy · 31-35, M
Prince’s death.
There have been a few over the years. The first one I remember was Kurt Cobain. Not just because I liked his music but at 12 it was the first time I was exposed to the idea of suicide and a graphic one at that. At the time I could not wrap my brain around that.

Bill Paxton and John Ritter, both of their deaths really bothered me, i guess it was because they were not really that old and they still had so much life left to live...
revenant · F
Not really no. I get a bit mournful when people who bring joy die. Freddy Mercury, David Bowie, Rutger Hauer..
But since I never knew them personally...
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
Princess Diana and Robin Williams. Two genuinely good loving people taken long before their time in shattering ways.
Not bothered per se, like someone I know personally. More along the lines of "oh, that's too bad, because I liked them" kind of thing. I think Steve Irwin was one, because my kids were young and watched the show.

The most shocking was Dale Earnhardt. We had come back from a night out, and proceeded to watch the Daytona 500 as recorded. For some reason, the recording stopped a few laps before the end of the race. We turned on ESPN to try and catch who won the race and...
originnone · 61-69, M
@BrewCityBarfly Yeah, I get sad about Irwin every time I see his kids on their show.

Brittany Murphy, Robin Williams and Paul Walker. I watched a lot of movies with my mom when I was younger.

Jimi Hendrix death at the age of 27 still bothers me when i think of what the music world has lost. We are talking absolute genius here.
A man who never played any song the same way twice. So creative and a gentle soul too.
For me the loss of Hendrix is on par with the loss of Mozart.
Robin Williams’ death was especially a shock here, because he’d lived in the Bay Area for so long. 😞
Anthony Bourdain
Michael Jackson
James Avery
@originnone Definitely, Valerie had such a dear heart. I really admired her.

Suzanne was earlier I believe, and a more obscure actress. She was Bob Newhart's wife where he played the psychologist.
originnone · 61-69, M
@SethGreene531 I remember her on Bob Newhart. She was beautiful. I remember many scenes of the two lying in bed, talking.
@originnone Yeah, she was elegant. Her and Bob had a great relationship, largely owing to her affable nature. Their before bed chats always ended an episode!
I was sad when John Ritter died. It doesn't bother me necessarily even though the doctor treated him for a heart a attack and he could have lived if treated for the right ailment.
This American was sad when the Queen died! 😢
@nedkelly Elizabeth
@nedkelly Queen had some good music tho!

Ronnie James Dio, he's been my favorite for forever it seems, and i had just been to what would end up being his last show with Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath) the summer before, i was stunned the morning i heard about it, i didn't even know he had been sick😞

Dale Earnhardt Sr., Junior Johnson, Johnny Cash, Roy Clark, Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, etc.

@wildbill83 Earl Scruggs. I haven't heard his or Lester's name in a while.
Yes. His father had reportedly been a real head case for some time, a minister who was abusive to his wife and all of his children, but especially to Marvin. The mother said he was actually jealous of his son. I hate that it took him killing Marvin for her to finally leave the father.

@ServantOfTheGoddess I was in high school. I remember some kids wore black. His death really didn't hit me like some. I think it bothered me more when George passed. Now I'm getting upset....
