Why do people who seem to have it all commit suicide?

2 of my fav YouTubers from back in the day committed suicide, both seemed very happy about their lives, they seemed to be doing well financially and at least seemed to have a lot of friends and family who supported them.

I know what we see and what is going on in their lives are completely different perspectives, still, when their friends and family went public about it, they did mention they never saw it coming and, y'know, all the "he was such a happy person, I would've never expected that from them" comments.

Some people are just good at hiding their pain from others. Even family and friends.

But also, nobody wants to admit that they knew something was wrong but just chose to ignore it.

They don't have it all. They must be missing something essential.

@CrazyMusicLover what would that be

@Andromedanian I think it differs. There might be many reasons why they can't go on.

These are the faces of depression.

@DunningKruger why though?

@Andromedanian We'll never really know for some of them. Not all of them committed suicide, at least intentionally, but they were self-medicating in ways that led to their deaths.

And also, the individual whys aren't important. What matters is that it doesn't matter what you have or the level of success you've achieved or how the rest of the world perceives you. At some point, your life becomes so unbearable that you have to do something, whether that means drugging yourself into oblivion or lodging a shotgun under your chin.

People are good at hiding their pain, and maybe people who are perceived to have it all most of all, perhaps because they feel that to be unhappy, even miserable, would be seen as being ungrateful for everything they have. And maybe they did have everything, except for the one thing that mattered — a reason to live.

Because you can't buy peace and contentment

@Iwantyourhotwife the few times in my life when I've been unexpectedly doing well financially, my overall problems did seem to look much smaller than before
