Worries about pregnancy and post partum depression

I am not even pregnant and I don’t know when I will be. But I worry so much about how my body will handle pregnancy and if I’ll develop post partum depression because I have MDD along with GAD and BPD. I just want to be the best mom I can when it’s my time.

I have bipolar 2 and I don’t think I'm capable of mentally withstanding pregnancy. Firstly I've been on medication for 8 years now. I would have to go through an extremely difficult withdrawal process to ween my body off of my mood stabiliser, antidepressants and sleep medication for my sleep anxiety.

Lets say I successfully get off my treatment, now I have to deal with the emotions those pills treat. Add to this the influx of pregnancy hormones and you have a recipe for death. That's why I plan to use a surrogate if I ever want to have children. That way my baby can get the best of me mentally and emotionally. Also I don't have to worry about gaining pregnancy weight😂.

You however don't need to worry, just plan ahead. My therapist said that if I were to get pregnant I would have to work closely with her and my psychiatrist throughout the pregnancy. The best way to arrest anxiety is to plan ahead. You don't have to do it alone, you'll be okay. ♥

@PinkMoon thank you for sharing. ❤
I'd seriously look into the possibility of passing these on and consider adopting.

Are you sure it's a good idea to have children when you have MDD, GAD, as well as BPD?

@Justbekind24 I suppose that MDD and GAD isn't running in your family either then. To me it sounds like a risky endeavor, but nevertheless it's your choice. I hope you make the right choice, and manage to live a happy life.

@MartinTheFirst I’m sure it’s risky for everyone no matter what, lol. But thank you.

@Justbekind24 Yeah, everyone should reconsider it a lot more than they usually do.

Let’s not worry about things until they happen, then just deal with it then.

@Morvoren I agree but easier said than done for me lol.

@Justbekind24 Just be happy you have a healthy baby at the end of it. It’s more than I got.

@Morvoren that’s a good way to look at it. I’m not pregnant currently but I am trying.
