Did you find out your baby’s gender before they were born?

We have chosen not to find out what our baby is. I want the surprise when it’s born 🤗🤗🤗

Everyone asks us constantly if/when we are finding out and is so shocked when we say we are waiting. It seems so uncommon these days but I didn’t think it would be!

In my head it’s a boy. I just have a feeling but we will see 😊😊

No, we waited until the baby was born.

The woke and snowflakes parents will wait until they are 6 and allow the teachers to pick a particular gender for them
We didn’t with our first. I did an awesome mountain themed nursery that was perfect for a girl or boy. We struggled for a couple hours to decide on her name when she was born, but we struggled with boy and girl names the whole pregnancy lol. Overall, I’m really glad we waited!! It also kept me from stereotyping typing her with boy/girl traits during pregnancy lol.

I’m pregnant again now. My husband wants to wait again. I secretly had them tell me the sex the other day…but only because I have ALL this girl stuff stored in the basement and I wanted to know whether I’m keeping it all or replacing it lol. I certainly don’t want to have to worry about decluttering and organizing a basement full of baby stuff after baby is born lol. (I’m not telling my husband obviously about the sex)

@cherryxblossom What I meant was the things you plan for down the line once you know you are going to have a boy or a girl. And yes, more important than that is your baby is healthy.
@IamCuriousBabe I understand. You can’t really have expectations for your kids regardless of gender though. They’re going to be genuinely them, regardless of what you hope for 😂

@cherryxblossom Oh definitely. And speaking of gender, you know what I think about gender reveal parties? There may be a much bigger surprise years later!

Why do people want to know that in advance?
4meAndyou · F
@ABCDEF7 They want to paint the nursery an appropriate color, and want to begin buying gender appropriate clothing.

@4meAndyou I guess these things were not important few decades ago before the advent of ultrasound tests. But there is a risk, few people may abort if the baby's gender is not what parents wished.

yes, with all of them.

I think it's more practical because then you know what name to choose and clothes to buy.

@SW-User you lil baby-maker

@Raffiki I don't have a preference for gender either, but knowing helps me learn about them and come to understand who they are...it's part of their identity. For example, mine are referred to by their name long before they come out

@MartinTheFirst yess 💕
TexChik · F
I absolutely did. I wanted to know who I was carrying . We didn’t tell anyone else but my husband and I both wanted that knowledge .
revenant · F
Yep. I wanted to prepare myself and know what kind of baby clothes I should be buying...

Way to go! I'm in total agreement with this. 🙂
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
We agreed on a girl name right away but were SO far apart with boys names it was almsot an arguement. We decided to stop making the 'boy' list until we knew what we were having. Plus I wanted to know if I could go overboard on a Hello Kitty nursery.
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@Starcrossed we are the same! Girl name is pretty set but we are all over the place with boys. What is it that’s so hard about naming a boy?! I’m hoping if it is a boy we will just know his name when we see his face.

So did you get your Hello Kitty nursery?! 🥰
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@Raffiki I totally did and it was awesome. She's a tween though and we finally took down what she hadn't peeled off the wallpaper border and painted her walls more grown up color. But the Hello Kitty nursery was so cute. Not worth what I paid and I decided if I had a 2nd it would all be second hand but we ended up never having that sibling.
Torsten · 36-40, M
sure did and glad we did not wait.
bowman81 · M
Nope both times we found out at birth.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
I had no idea
Aweeee :) i hope he doesnt mess with the girls too much! Little boys can be silly hell razors
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@TryingtoLava girl or boy I think the two big sisters will keep them in check 😁😁
@Raffiki hahah fairy wont take attitude
IamCuriousBabe · 51-55, F
That would definitely be a nice surprise. Are you taking any bets from friends?
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@IamCuriousBabe Yes! We are doing a sweepstake. People have to guess gender, weight and DOB 😊

So far most people are guessing boy!
IamCuriousBabe · 51-55, F
@Raffiki If I can see you (not that I am asking), look at your face and skin, I probably would make a guess. That's how a lot of people do it here. It's not 100% reliable, but there's a bit of science to it .
Morrigan · F
I found out all of mine while pregnant. Labour and birth was enough suprise for me.
exexec · 61-69, C
We did not. It was fun to use all the old wives' tales to try to guess.
Bleak · 36-40, F
I would not.
