Aw I'm so sorry you had to endure that. 🌷
For me, yes for the most part thankfully. Not perfect, but never neglected, abused or left in anyone else's hands. My mother was very nurturing and there for us through thick and thin.

I was disowned and disinherited so that’s definitely not going to be a “yes”.
But, pain/tough things do teach us resilience. It also teaches us what great peace there is with forgiveness. So, it’s not a “no” either.
Either way, my parents aren’t responsible for my happiness. My job is to dream and then jump in and live it.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. My wife and I were fortunate to have good parents. Hers were upper class, and mine were working class.

I am grateful to my parents. They were very good people and raised us well.
I am very sorry that you have had to deal with what you did.

Yes, I did. My parents were very loving and nurturing. I hope my kids feel the same way about me that I feel about my parents.

My biologic parents started out well, but decided they should make and sell methamphetamine. It destroyed my mother, and my father became a grotesque, abusive, demon from hell that I barely survived any encounter with. I don't know how I survived TBH. But at 11 , when he tried to rape me...I ran to the nearest farm (which had been leaving me food and providing shelter) and asked for help. They, my adoptive parents, were angels. They saved my life in so many ways.

My childhood was very unhappy, and then I got booted out at 16. My mum died recently, I wasn't upset or go to her funeral.
Absolutely not, but my grandma was decent and I had some ok foster parents a few times.

Yes, in most ways we were very lucky. You don't choose your parents, unfortunately for some.
daydeeo · 61-69, M
Dad was a serial cheater. Mom was a longsuffering martyr. So theirs was by no means a happy marriage. But they didn’t take it out on us 5 kids, so there was that. I guess they were 6 out of 10. Mom gets a 7, Dad gets a 5.

I'd say they did their best which is good in their eyes. In mine? It's more complex.
Edit: I just realised the account I commented on, who is so far questionable to say the least...

Just find your happy place, do not let anyone tell you it is messed up or wrong to be happy, we are who we are. Hurt no one and let no one hurt you

Would I be on the SW if I did? 😅 That's the question. I think they did what they could but they surely were pretty lenient with me.
kodiac · 22-25, M
No , grew up in foster care had too many fosters to count none of them what i would consider good .

I had good parents. My Mom didnt work and my Dad was a pilot. If they watched porn we didnt know about it and they were only social drinkers.
Alyosha · 31-35, M
That sounds awful. I'm sorry.

No . My dad cheated on my mom from the time I was 3 years old . It continued till 2015 .
FoxyQueen · 51-55, F
Hahahahahaha!!!
Oh hell no.
I had two very self absorbed, childish parents who decided to use their children to hurt their spouse, or use their children as a way to feel powerful.
