I used to be a nanny and I started watching the lil one at 8 months old. He was super fidgety when eating so the parents put on a Baby Bum show (where baby shark originated years ago!) on the iPad. It calmed him every time and he'd be mesmerized with the kids songs and colors etc.and he'd eat too.
Maybe you can place him in a baby chair and try to put on a Baby Bum video ....I think the soothing songs are very helpful, plus educational!!

@Donotfolowme I recommend Ms Rachel as far as videos. Baby learning one.

@Donotfolowme i do not reccomend ipads. The reason is because my bfs lil brother. Ive known him since he was 4 years old. His parents did not raise him properly. He had an ipad pretty much 24/7. And he started getting tics. He'd start twitching aggressively. Even though no one knows how he got tics. I 💯 believe it was the ipad. He still has tics to this day and he is now 15. And its such a sad thing because i would try and tell them to take the ipad away and he would be addicted to it he got aggressive as a lil boy. So no i dont reccomend ipads or screens at such a young age.

@ScarletWitch that's crazy! It's definitely risky, it's why I didn't recommend it in my original comment, but I think Ms Rachel is the best if you're going to use TV of any form right now. I let my son watch her sometimes. It's a necessary because I am alone far from family and friends and I literally would get nothing done if I didn't let him sometimes. It definitely should not be overused like you're describing. There's tons of research proving the effects are negative and screen time needs to be limited.

@Notsimilarreally i think every so often is harmless. But not excessively like i seen my bfs lil brother go through. I see too many parents in public just handing their ipads and screens just to make their kids zombies.

@ScarletWitch OMG! He watches TV with us sometimes and loves to look at the phone
I have no plans on getting him any electronic device untill he really needs one.

@ScarletWitch totally agree. So many parents totally ignoring their kids to be on their phones too...ugh
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@Notsimilarreally May be coz they have too many kids to look after

@Notsimilarreally @Donotfolowme @ScarletWitch hmm I'll have to check out Ms. Rachel...cool. we'd only put on the show if he was very fussy, which was most times he ate, and Baby Bum had so many songs about numbers, animals, nature or shapes. He knew what a trapezoid was at 1 1/2!!! I agree around the clock shows would be a negative effect but here or there, they seem to be soothed , and learn too.

@Coralmist for sure! There's so much animated stuff out there and I see coco melon as so bright and cartoony and maybe not good for their eyes that's why I put on Ms Rachel instead....their eyesight is developing and for some reason I just think the big bright cartoons might not be best option? Idk that's just me. So many people do it though.

@Notsimilarreally Thanks everyone this is really helpful for me to learn.

@Donotfolowme yeah, I only have one and he's 18 months old in a few days. Happy to answer anything about what I'm learning along the way. I love talking about it. Congrats on your babe. 😊
