Did you get on with your parents ?

Fairydust · F
Yes, I wasn’t close to my mother as a teenager, I struggled with her, things got better as I got older and didn’t live at home.
She treated me differently to my 3 older brothers, I was always the scapegoat.
i still sometimes struggle spending too much time with her, she’s a stress head and I’m super laid back, we can clash lol
Fairydust · F
@revenant aw she’s hilarious, I’m only having one… over a bottle of wine later 🤣
revenant · F
@Fairydust vodka shot for you..🥃
Fairydust · F
@revenant triple!!! 😆
antonioioio · 70-79, M
My mother really understud me
I had learning difficulties and would spend hours with me at night teaching me,
I used to be the best in my class at school
When I was 9 she passed away
I was the second eldest of 6 siblings and my personality clashed with my dad's
I ended up leaving school at a young age,
While i did not get on my dad when I was young, he was a wonderful grandfather to my kids
Over all, things worked out fine
revenant · F
@antonioioio I hope you did fine in life thereafter.
antonioioio · 70-79, M
@revenant I certainly did
While I did not get on with my dad I made the best of the gifts and talents I got from my parents
A lot of people blame others for whats wrong in their life but I learned at an early age
If their's something wrong in your life the first port of call is one self

I get along better with my mom.my dad is difficult
Lilnonames · F
Yes, for the most part. I sometimes feel like I'm the emotional one with my mother. A strange feeling, as a son, but I guess she is more guided than me ... or just has other desires in life. My father, was more quiet, yet his feelings were more expressed in other ways quietly in expression.
@revenant Of course.
@revenant how about you?
revenant · F
@thewindupbirdchronicles I gave the boot to my parents
4meAndyou · F
I've spent a lot of time...(wasted time)...angry with my mother, and in the end, I must conclude that you can't choose your parents, and that you must NOT waste one minute in anger, blaming them for this, that, and the other thing.
4meAndyou · F
@revenant I used to take ALL of my mother's calls. BIG mistake. Best day of my life was when I let them all go straight to the answering service, and hung up the moment I heard her voice. She would call me 20 times a day, sometimes.
revenant · F
@4meAndyou Do we share the same mother ? I have refused to speak to her for some time now. I am dreading the day when I physically will have to face her.
4meAndyou · F
@revenant Sounds like the same sort of manipulative narcissist. I used to see my mother out of pity, (and manipulation on her part), on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The rest of the time I sent her to the answering service.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
Yeah for the most part but I left the house on bad terms bc at that time we were not getting along well
revenant · F
@NiftyWhite hope things are better now
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
@revenant lol. No they’re both dead. But it did resolve itself before then.
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
Very close to my Mother. My father passed away while I was in undergraduate school.
revenant · F
@RuyLopez ouch young !
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
my mom is a difficult person to get along with. I get along fine with my dad. He is a calm mellow person.
Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Regardless; they are good people and have a great deal of respect for them
Henal · 26-30, F
We have our good days and bad days. I’m not close with them at all, but we get on okay.
Close with both of my parents. I am blessed to have them.
ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F

Generally. Better now than as a headstrong teen, which is often the case.
Mum yes, although she talks my ears off.
Dad, nope. He disowned me when i was 17. Mind you , he disowned all his kids .🙄
revenant · F
@OogieBoogie I believe instinct can really trump logic. " instinct has its own reasons that logic does not understand" like the heart..
you loved your dad though.
What happened to him ?
Parents can really fuckkk our lives..I know mine did on a deep level but perhaps I am guilty also somewhere.
@revenant i think damage can be passed down . And i also think social expectations are to blame for a lot of it.

Its only now parents are feeling safe to parent their own way, break stereotypes etc.

I think he was a product of his own parents damage and expectations .

It was just a shame he never set his own heart free.
revenant · F
@OogieBoogie I definitely think so. Not sure if parents nowadays are any better though.

What happened to him ?
iamelijah · 26-30, M

Yes. They are the most loving, caring, open-minded people ever, They nurtured all my weird quirks and allowed me to be different. They bought me books about all kinds of things and opened my mind and taught me love and acceptance and to value knowledge and seek it out.

So it's easy to spot hateful clowns who were raised in a loveless toxic household.

There are a few here. They post memes all day.
