Do you think home schooling is good for a childs education?

There are lots of benefits, but some big disadvantages too.

The good

- no bullies
- flexible hours
- concentrated learning
- bring in expert tutors

The bad

- social interactions lacking
- miss out on field trips, and group activities
- no first class gym activities and learning
- it can be hard to train your own kid, where they will listen to a teacher.
@EllaDisenchanted Regarding the social interaction, this needs to occur between the Children, not between the Adults/Children. That part is sorely lacking in home school environment.
@UreBesFrend That's why there's so many community based homeschool groups that get together to do trips and activities.
@EllaDisenchanted Oh cool, I didn't know about that. :)

Every child I've been exposed to who was home schooled knew what he is supposed to know and a lot more. so far ahead of the kids who have to be indoctrinated with a bunch of crap.

Your wording is specific. "For their education." Focusing solely on academics, I think home schooling can do a very good job, yes.
Miram · 31-35, F
It depends on the level of their education , means and their experience in teaching methods.

Effective teaching, the kind that inspires you and instills a hunger for knowledge is nothing easily achievable. Even in conventional education systems it is lacking anyway.

They learn better by being around other people

@EllaDisenchanted work in education then
@BlueRain That's part of what I do.
BlueRain · F
Nope. Because they’re not receiving real education.
@MsAnnThropy they are if they have a decent teacher

Only if the parents are really dedicated and the kids are socialized in other ways.

No. They loose the skills of socialization.

@BlueRain This is very true but the question specifically says can it be good for their education, which I think would imply that only academics are being taken into consideration. You're right though. Home schooling a child removes their main source of gaining experience in how to interact with other people their age, which is a valuable thing.
Depends on the quality of education they're given. I'm strict with my lesson plans, I've seen others stricter, some less. I've had a couple instances where I did tutoring and the mother claimed they were homeschooled but both families just let them run around all day doing nothing and a few minutes of reading and math a day.

As opposed to drug and gang infested public schools

If the parent is dedicated, I believe it is a great education.
I think it can be.
