There are lots of benefits, but some big disadvantages too.

The good

- no bullies
- flexible hours
- concentrated learning
- bring in expert tutors

The bad

- social interactions lacking
- miss out on field trips, and group activities
- no first class gym activities and learning
- it can be hard to train your own kid, where they will listen to a teacher.
@UreBesFrend social interaction happens all the time, even among peers. And there are trips and group activities organized by homeschooling parents all the time, including gym activities. And a child's training to mind their parents is one of the first thing that develops when you're one on one with them. If they don't listen to parents then they'll never listen to a teacher.
@EllaDisenchanted It sounds like you have experience in this.
@UreBesFrend I do homeschool curriculum and tutoring with some of my client's children.
@EllaDisenchanted Regarding the social interaction, this needs to occur between the Children, not between the Adults/Children. That part is sorely lacking in home school environment.
@UreBesFrend That's why there's so many community based homeschool groups that get together to do trips and activities.
@EllaDisenchanted Oh cool, I didn't know about that. :)
