My Mom Threatened To Have Me Evicted & Bedroom Door Taken Down For Disobedience

Idk what to do at this point because my dad told me he's gonna evict me if I call the cops on her, economy sucks so even finding a low end job is difficult, homeless shelters and subsidized housing have long waitlists. For context my mom punished me by boycotting cooking meals for me because I told her to shut up repeatedly when she kept raging like a Karen at me and my sister for being failures (don't really wanna get into it).

Today she then decided to do the aforementioned and considering she's made criminal threats to me before, I'm not gonna back down and I need to take action. I know legally she can take the bedroom door down and have me evicted, but she lacks the true authority to do so (that'd be my dad) and also iirc uttering such threats can still be criminal. I've already notified my dad about this, but he's currently at work and he almost got reprimanded for calling during his shift before.

I know its hard but you have to stop depending on your parents. You are a grown adult responsible for your own self. Figure it out. Get professional help. A therapist can help you learn independence and self esteem.

@uikakarotuevegeta then you need to go out there and pound the pavement. Or be working your bum off to help around the house and your community. Do something productive. While your body is able.

@PeachyK i tried to get into the skilled trades but most employers ignored me or they wanted someone with experience

@PeachyK i do have my automation startup but it's stuck in the seed stage and pre-revenue, and obviously with my current situation i gotta delay that for now

As for contributing to the community, I did apply for a volunteering role somewhere but gotta wait for them to choose me for an interview. And also I was gonna volunteer at the library next to the hospital...until my mom did what she did today.

You need to find any type of job that can support you moving out with a roommate . I noticed you mentioned applying to remote work and skilled manual labour but you need to be realistic and fire your CV to entry level positions. It will be a start. You can't hope that your start up takes off and you cant keep assigning blame to the current state of affairs. It is hard for everyone but we all need to start somewhere, and most often it is not a red carpet and rose petals situation , but it can get you there

@PepsiColaP i already did mass apply to low end jobs throughout 2023 and even 2024, but aside from some interviews here and there, nobody hired me.

@PepsiColaP i did manage to get hired and work for UberEats as a bike courier for a few months, but then i got fired for low satisfaction rating. I still have DoorDash to fall back on, but they limit when and where couriers can deliver and I don't drive so the winter is effectively cut off

I feel sorry for you. I hated living at home. Like you I had trouble finding a high enough paying job after college. I was 26 when I finally moved out for good.
uikakarotuevegeta · 26-30, M
@Cloud7593 what job did you find?
Cloud7593 · 46-50, F
@uikakarotuevegeta At the time I found a job as a medical transcriptionist at a hospital in another town. It's a job I never should have left.
uikakarotuevegeta · 26-30, M
@Cloud7593 I'm guessing you studied medicine or something similar right

Okay being homeless or knowing you might be is the worst thing ever. Knowing you have to sleep somewhere in the cold where you might get robbed or murdered is a wake up call.

1. They're not options bud. Job first.
If you don't have much experience, Restaurants will take ANYBODY willing to learn and do the work. Get a pot wash/assistant job, 5 days a week, you'll end up being a chef and having transferrable skills/paid more while you figure things out.

2. Job postings are ass, walk into places with a CV, if it's toxic at home spend your time doing that. You will find one.

3. Use that to get your own place or share with somebody, save up for a car if you don't have one.
uikakarotuevegeta · 26-30, M
@Mordechai actually they won't because they gatekeep with ATS like everybody else and every job application for those places easily have hundreds of applicants

Most places just told me to apply online through their website, to a job board site, and/or to email.

I don't have a driver's license and even if I did, I don't have the money for financing, gas, insurance, and maintenance

@uikakarotuevegeta coming on here and complaining about your mom isn’t helping, and from this one post I’m assuming she pays the rent and cares for you and this is your gratitude?
uikakarotuevegeta · 26-30, M
@FreeSpirit1 no my dad is the breadwinner and you don't even know half the story, and yet you're already siding with the Karen

@uikakarotuevegeta I have two daughters doing that very thing. Both single and both have been independent since graduating college. Both own their own homes. Yes I paid for college, but everything else they’ve done on their own. One is 10 years older than you and one is 7. Tell me again how it’s not possible these days.
uikakarotuevegeta · 26-30, M
@Texaspumper so you admit you helped your daughters cheat, got it
