How much does it cost to get divorced if only one person wants the divorce?

This is not about me, this is about a family member. I was wondering if someone could give me an estimate before looking it up haha

It depends on the law in your jurisdiction.
Mine cost less than $500.00 because no lawyers were involved.

That really depends on where you live and if the other person is going to contest it. Most lawyers around here require a $5,000 retainer to handle divorces but it could be more could be less depending on the case

It doesn’t work like that. It depends on the number of hearings, the amount of legal assistance you require and any applications made during the process.

And this all depends on how complicated the two parties wish to make it.

if you base it on £1750 you might have a few pounds change depending how many letters the Solicitor sends

As others have said, it varies depending on where you live, but even in "no-fault" circumstances lawyers cost. It’s more expensive if one person is fighting it. Here, with an abuse situation there are some groups that will help advise the abused spouse trying to leave.
