The CTC (Child Tax Credit) lifted children out of poverty, didn't cost much and the Republicans refused to extend it

"Reinstating the CTC expansion that President Biden signed into law in 2021 would lift millions of children out of poverty every year, which evidence shows would have numerous additional benefits—reduced food insecurity and financial hardship, improved health for children and parents, better school performance, and reduced incidence of child abuse—for children, their parents, and their families. Indeed, the benefits extend into adulthood and far exceed the expanded tax credit’s cost."

Investment in children not corporations already turning record profits.

How could anybody oppose tax breaks for the neediest families? As you say, the long term benefits far outweigh the costs. Plus the money is invariably spent widely and quickly (rather than put into a bank account or real estate that benefits very few people) and a percentage will be returned to government through consumption taxes and other peoples' income taxes.

@SunshineGirl

A tax break is reducing what they would normally pay .... giving them money they didn't put in is wrong no matter how you try to spin it

Where does it stop as my tax burden keeps going up & up and i can't afford more taxes
Nobody should get a refund higher then they put into the system

@ElwoodBlues

Debating ?????
More like talking to a wall
@pdockal Really? What wall will tell you that we live in a majority rules society. So it doesn't matter if one of us doesn't like buying a fleet of bombers at $1 billion each. And it doesn't matter if one of us doesn't like $20 billion/year in agricultural subsidies. Your feelings don't matter, because the majority chose it.

So if you can't afford your lifestyle in our society, that's on you dude. Either you change the majority opinion, or your change your too-expensive lifestyle.
Of are you one of the ones getting everything for free because your a freeloader ??????
Which wall told you, the freeloaders tend to be RED states, and I strongly suspect you live in a freeloader state.

@ElwoodBlues

Majority rules
That's a fucking joke
Most programs wouldn't exist if majority ruled and congress did what we wanted
They lie & manipulate & cheat to get elected then do whatever
How many have pending litigation?
How many use inside knowledge to become millionaires ?

Your data is fucked up
Unfortunately i live in a fucking liberal state and an always trying to change it

As for the majority ... those who get the hand outs outnumber those being taken from so that won't change

Like i said tax everybody @ 10% and no more fees which are just a different way to tax me and no deductions and we can ask live better

Tell your congressmen to write out a one page bill and only one subject

A) if things happened in a vacuum, this might help. But bc other factors like inflation, poor financial discipline, addictions and tax cheats exist, it makes zero difference and actually motivates more children into unfit homes.
B) "lifted out of poverty" is rhetoric. This implies that at a certain point families in poverty are eliminated. What is that number? When can we reach that? It's a carrot that is never reached.
C) eliminating the cumbersome tax code and replacing with a fair tax - accounting for basic necessities like food, housing, and utilities - would be a better/more effective outcome by eliminating tax cheats and spreading the burden to everyone.

But parents are already working poor so unlikely to vote Republican anyway.
Why not cut the money they get and gift it to.....small business in the hope you can convince 'Wally the window cleaner' to vote Republican cause look what we can do for you !
Thus ensuring at least one safe vote.

Clueless. Never known so many expecting to come to power so clueless about what they're supposed to be fighting for or WTH they're going to do once they get there.
Had enough of the RepubliKKKans yet? Vote them all out in November. Their ONLY goal.........if you have it, need it, like it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,take it away from you.

@MaBalzEsHari what cult? The anti kkk cult?
@MasterLee Ask Orange Jesus...............he is your Lard.

He'll tell you......"he likes stupid people". That's a direct quote from trump at his 2015 rally in Utah. And he was so spot on about how stupid his audience was at that rally........they applauded him.......after he called them stupid to their faces. Scammy Davis the Rapist has your answers. Ask him "what cult".

@Nayla then why are we giving money to foreign countries?
The Dems didn't extend it, too! Vote blue, because wherever!
Yet another example of how the GOP couldn’t give a good GD about children !!!

Save the children, just don’t freaking feed them, right ?
And forget about helping to educate them.
😳
The GQP is Pro-Birth, not Pro-Life
