The CTC (Child Tax Credit) lifted children out of poverty, didn't cost much and the Republicans refused to extend it

"Reinstating the CTC expansion that President Biden signed into law in 2021 would lift millions of children out of poverty every year, which evidence shows would have numerous additional benefits—reduced food insecurity and financial hardship, improved health for children and parents, better school performance, and reduced incidence of child abuse—for children, their parents, and their families. Indeed, the benefits extend into adulthood and far exceed the expanded tax credit’s cost."

Investment in children not corporations already turning record profits.

A) if things happened in a vacuum, this might help. But bc other factors like inflation, poor financial discipline, addictions and tax cheats exist, it makes zero difference and actually motivates more children into unfit homes.
B) "lifted out of poverty" is rhetoric. This implies that at a certain point families in poverty are eliminated. What is that number? When can we reach that? It's a carrot that is never reached.
C) eliminating the cumbersome tax code and replacing with a fair tax - accounting for basic necessities like food, housing, and utilities - would be a better/more effective outcome by eliminating tax cheats and spreading the burden to everyone.
