What should happen to Christa Pike now ?

Christa Pike survived Tennessee’s attempt to execute her via lethal injection on Wednesday, but her medical and legal future remain remarkably unclear.

Pike is intubated, on a ventilator, and remains unconscious in a Nashville-area hospital, her attorneys said in a court filing Friday.

Pike is receiving life-saving care after being injected with two ostensibly fatal doses of pentobarbital, her attorneys said Thursday. They declined to offer further details on her health.

Pike, who was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, was set to become the first woman executed in Tennessee in 200 years. Now, her legal case will be at a standstill.

There is a rumor going round that death row inmates at that facility try to cheat the executioner by not eating or drinking several days prior to their execution. That causes their veins to shrink.

IF...and I do mean IF Christa Pike is not brain dead after all of this, then the State should grant her stated wish to be hung by the neck until dead.

There is a strong possibility she has been left with brain damage. I doubt they will give her further lethal injections if that is the case.

It may not have been unsuccessful in the long run. It may sound sadistic, but I actually hope she's consciously aware and suffering.

Medical Status
Critical Condition: Pike remains in critical condition and is receiving life-saving medical care to clear the pentobarbital from her system.

Physical Injuries: Her attorneys filed court documents stating that both of her arms were swollen, burned, and blistered upon arrival at the hospital.

Prognosis: Her attorneys have not been permitted to see her in the hospital, and her long-term prognosis remains unknown, with medical experts warning of potential brain damage.

@Nimbus that method has existed for years. Just ask veterinarians. It's a bureaucratic issue about the people in the room. Ask AI about that. The short answer is no one wants to be responsible. The longer term answer is, they're dosage and the three step approach instead of two.
