When I was a little girl, and even into my teens, there was a cobbler in the town where I grew up, in Massachusetts. I used to wear my shoes over on the sides when I was young, and the cobbler would tap little wedges onto the soles on that side of the shoe!

Yes. I still get them reheeled or resoled occasionally, but today's shoe repair places don't smell as good as the old ones.

I took in a pair of leather boots for repair when I was younger. Haven't thought about it in years - no one does shoe/boot repair around here anymore. Is that still a thing anywhere?
