Homeschooling isn't abuse it's that often times it coincides with other lifestyle choices that can be seen as abusive. For instance I lived with this girl once who her and her father were nice enough to give me a home for a short while but they were tight religious community where growing up she wasn't allowed to have friends her own age. She also wasn't allowed at bars, movies, etc she neverv even took the bus at 24 years old. When she was little, all her friends were old white men.
She was nice enough but her father would freak out if I mentioned us going to a movie or a bar to play pool or just any event. It was very nice but off putting.
You got the sense that the little suburb outside of the big city was a cult. In a lot of cities they have mini cults that exist outside of the human eye and gated neighborhoods. It's very weird.
While I don't think homeschooling is bad, I think you're really responsible for growing their brains and not stunting them either. Making them resilient through different things in life but I don't see a lot of parents doing that. That takes more work than just putting them in school and when you homeschooling you're really in charge of growing their brains and trying to handle conflict or knowing how to so they can get ready for their life. Many don't do that or even know how

@thechik96 No because in public school you are exposed to diff views and can challenge yourself. Yes there's bad apples everywhere but that's a moot point. The types of people drawn to homeschooling are often drawn to other lifestyles in which can damage children too. Certainly not everyone though.

@thechik96 It's not just a few bad apples. Public schools provide some of the very scant protections children have from abuse, such as having trusted adults outside of the home, chances to form a support system, and access to information. Of course the parents who want to do that will disproportionately be people who want to control and abuse their kids.
