It seems to be all too common, your story. Is there no father in your life or siblings that will congratulate you on your marriage? I like to think your immediate family should be your biggest cheerleaders. Let me wish you all the luck in your future and starting your own family. Remember, learn from your history.

It's your wedding day, if she didn't like it, she can leave. Rise above her pettiness. You are accountable for your actions, not hers. Even your MIL, it's her son's wedding and yours, invite YOUR friends. Best, go elope! Then have a celebration after the fact.

I think it is very understandable why it hurts you ,as you usually expect your mother to support you.
antisocialbutterfly · 26-30, F
@Justmeraeagain it’s really messing with my self image rn . I feel totally awful about myself

I hope you can get to a place where you believe that you do not have to accept the cruel things people say to you.
It's not the same thing, at all, but I have a nephew who is a narcissist and I eventually cut myself off from him and my life got a lot more peaceful.

It makes perfect sense that it would hurt. One should be able to trust one’s mother to have their back. I’m sorry. 🥺
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
I know you love your mom, but it sounds like it's time to cut all contact with her and not look back.

Shit happens. My parents didn’t come to my first wedding because I married a Catholic woman. For my wedding “gift”, I got a certified letter at work. In it were my college loans.
Just do what’s works for you. It’s your life, not theirs.

I hate when parents insult their own children. Sounds pretty bitter to me
