What is something your parents did for you as a child

that you didn't fully appreciate until you became an adult?

Neither of my parents had a carefree childhood.

They made sure I did - but my mother (especially) strongly urged me to start working my summers from the age of 16 on.

@rinkydinkydoink That's so amazing!

Guarded my safety from strangers

I thought my mom was crazy as a kid but as an adult i appreciate the caution she had for me.. some parents are oblivious and careless in regards to predators targeting their children

@YoMomma so true!

Manners and communication
And also all those lifts for after school activities like footy, hockey netball swimming etc

I realised as I got older that they just probably wanna chill after working all day but no they carted me round and then stood and watched be it hail rain or sun

@Gangstress thats true care and commitment!

My parents are caring and selfless but it gave me a warped sense of the world that people could be trusted and hard work would be rewarded.

@Bleed same.

My mom insisting I start piano lessons at 5 and I hated it and wasn’t allowed to quit. My dad insisting we learned French. We had to do our Friday night board game night in French and speak French all weekend long. He said you’ll thank me one day.

They sacrificed a lot so that my sister and I could get a good education.
Sacrificed their own dreams. Makes me sad.
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
Made sure that I always used manners.
StarsMISaligned · 51-55, F
@HowtoDestroyAngels I'm appreciative of that too!
