Why do I feel guilty being happy and away from family?

Been there. For me, I was happy to be away from the toxic environment. However, because it was my family, it was difficult to accept....hence the guilt. However, happiness must win...at least for me. After a while, the negative feeling was over powered by the positive happy and more emotional well-balanced feelings.

I feel the same when I'm away. They know I'm still coming home.

You haven't done it often enough or for long enough. That feeling goes away

How long away a few hours or a few weeks?

Families and guilt tripping seem to go hand in hand
