Stumbled on a picture of my mom when she was 9 or 10

I looked almost identical to her at that age. Now 26 years later I'm going through the photo album and I look like a skinner faced version of my paternal grandfather.

Confronting the idea of mortality too.

My mom was 36 when she had my older sis. Just a year older than I. She would pass on at the age of 44.

Do I too only have 8 years left?

It's bittersweet because, I'm 35 and I'm realising separate to it as her son, as her own person, she was too damn young to die. As they say, in the prime of her life.

My mother passed when she was 48 ish. I too wonder if I will be older than she at times…. Especially if I do start my family at 40 like I’m currently considering. It was difficult being a child without a mother. I managed to come out alright but - I wouldn’t want to bring children into this world and have them grow up without me as their mother. It’s unpredictable when our time will come. That’s why it’s important to maintain generally good health and to enjoy each day of fresh air with our friends and family, so when that day comes you know that you did the best you could have until that point and that point was meant to be “the moment”.
