Back in my day 10 year olds weren't the parents

She's 10. You're the parent. Take it away from her.
Neoerectus · M
@ltdxunbreakable Again. 10. Phone. If she earns the money, maybe she can buy it if you approve.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@ltdxunbreakable Yes, but you haven't taken the phone away yet.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@ltdxunbreakable why does a ten year old have a phone????
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
Ummmm, she is not the boss

You are supposed to be the boss here.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
There is something disturbing in the lack of balance between freedom and responsibility here.. I question the need for her to have a phone. I question your rational in handing over yours. And I question your mental state in her having the phone and YOU continuing to pay for it..😷
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman thanks for pointing this out I appreciate it I really do yeah her and I enjoy technology I traded with her because I wanted her phone and she wanted mine well needless to say she's found a lot of use out of it and she really enjoys it her going back to the phone she traded me would not suit her it does not have things she likes anymore
justanothername · 51-55, M
@ltdxunbreakable as my wife would ask me, who is the Adult in this situation? You or your daughter? It sounds like she is.
Sometimes parents make mistakes. Better that she learns "Life is not fair" by your hand than from out in the world. Own it, apologize, take the phone back. She's going to be mad and disappointed but it's okay to be mad and disappointed.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@dragonfly46 ty so much for your comment & I agree
Understand but you are paying for the phones and plans, at 10, she should be happy she has a phone.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@Sojournersoul mine is a galaxy s23 FE. hers is iPhone 8plus. She wants it because it still updates
@ltdxunbreakable Tell her you will update hers as soon as you can or see if you can find an unlocked iphone for cheap.
JonUK31 · 36-40, M
Mad world were you need to trade with a 10 year old. I'm your mother, this is how it's going to be.

You set the rules.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@JonUK31 I made the verbal agreement. I want to trade back. I am hurting her feelings by breaking the agreement.
@ltdxunbreakable your being a friend and nota mother your the parent the adult dont act like a child be a responsible parent wake up or get nanny jo frost to help
at 10 why the f does she need the lates phone for is she a ceo shes 10 shes a child why needa phone for
wudifu · 46-50, M
Im old skool.....she is too young to have a phone.....it takes the youth out of children
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
She's too young to have a phone. Definitely get it back now or it will het worse. And if her friends have phones, too bad...waaaay too young for a phone.
Wait at least 2 years
Are you serious . You posted on here that you can’t control your 10 yo daughter.Have you no pride.
I think you should grow up.
Bowenw · 61-69, M
Tell her she can keep it but she will have to make the payments, or she can trade you for her old one and not have to pay.
tiggerandariel13 · 41-45, MVIP
my 17-year-old gets very mad when i take her phone
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@tiggerandariel13 The only question I have is who pays the bill? If its you, its a privilege you can revoke..
tiggerandariel13 · 41-45, MVIP
@whowasthatmaskedman Her mother and I do she tells us if we take her she'll take her sister's
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@tiggerandariel13 I wont critique your parentling style. Its a different culture. But mine were bought up different..Responsibility came attached to freedom..😷
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
I don’t understand what is happening. Take your phone back and that’s it
meJess · F

ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F

Keeper · M
What do I think?

This whole situation is dumb
Be a parent.
I say the mom takes it back.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@Sojournersoul she won't budge. She clings to verbal agreement. I feel bad.

as long n o abuse is done good but children do not grow well o n screen 24/7 all im saying .Be a parent and set boundaries
Neman1622 · 41-45, M
Yeah... this isn't that hard. I mean really? She's your 10 year old daughter! Life comes with lessons, and apparently you still need to learn some basic parenting ones.
You are the parent. You don't "trade" with a 10 year old.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@CactusJackManson u can trade. But I broke the agreement
@ltdxunbreakable You handed over a tremendous amount of power to a 10 year old. You broke the parent/child balance of power. You're the mom, reassert your authority and take back the phone. It's not going to ruin her, it will help her in the long run.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@CactusJackManson thank you it's comments like this that keep me coming back and helping me to feel safe yeah I totally agree I need to be assertive she needs to listen even though I cannot get her phone right away I did tell her I give her it when I paid off she's going to have to listen

Tell her you're sorry but you want it back. Tell her you owe her one.
10 years old! Jeez thats young for a phone
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Drones on phones.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
Yalls comments are so spot on.
Odd fetish 🤔
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
So take it back
You’re the adult, you can just take it back, seriously. You can explain that unfortunately, you’re still making payments on that phone and trading was a mistake.
She will still have a phone. But you don’t have to accept "no" on something you’re paying for. If she just likes that phone, perhaps the agreement can be revisited after it’s paid off.
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard I agreed to giving it to her once paid off.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Why does a 10 year old even have a phone? I think you need to explain to her that you’re making payments on the phone and paying for her line so you’re taking the phone back.
NudasPriest · 46-50, M
You agreed to trade. Accept the consequences of your decision.
I'm having a hard time believing that this is a sincere post, and that any forty-something adult would ever seriously post something as nonsensical as their 10 year old child refused to comply with a parental order ...

But just on the off chance this is sincere and not just spamming ...

You do realize that YOU are the parent, right?!?!
If NOT, perhaps someone needs to call Child Protective Services and take your child away and place them with someone who is up for the task of adultiing / parenting.
tenente · 100+, M
was i the only child who complied with my parents demands due to an ingrained and visceral mortal fear of the consequences?
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
@tenente man now I sound too nice to my kiddo when I just want to be cool 😂😂😂
ltdxunbreakable · 41-45, F
tenente · 100+, M
@ltdxunbreakable i mean, there's wisdom in teaching future generations to be assertive.
