Are you aged 24 and still with parents? (EXCLUDING disabled folks NOT a Q for you)

I think now with the price of rent in many places and high interest rates, it is more acceptable to live with your parents longer.

@JimboSaturn it's crazy expensive. It's nice seeing this idea that people need to be out of the house at 18 decrease, particularly bc in other places of the world, multigenerational homes are the norm

@JimboSaturn A person can have roommates, which some may find more socially acceptable.
🤷♀️ Everything is even more expensive now. I help my parents with the bills. We get along well. I'm single so I have no one to split costs with. There's not much of a reason to leave before I have something set up.
Why not
I was until 25
Its called cost of living
Its more expensive now too

Come on now, we need to stop shaming people who live at home, life is freakin expensive now and so what if they still share a house with their parents. If they’re lazy and don’t contribute to the house that’s a different story.
Get used to it... until boomers die off, it's going to be more common. The 6k empty homes we have here aren't enough to house our 3k homeless people, never mind giving people wanting to leave home and rent their first place a chance to do so.
We're pushing people out of refuges (both domestic abuse and homeless) into private rents and monthly rolling contracts - then we can't understand why these people come back when the landlord kicks them out to sell the property.
It's better to stay at home with your parents now, if you can live with them, than it is to move out and start on your own.

I am not that age anymore, but with this economy I think they should live in their parents’ house for as long as they can lol. Until they are able to afford a home . But who can afford a home at 24 nowadays ? The most you can do is rent a place, and rent is expensive is some places.
I'm blessed to even be living in a rented flat with my wife... lots of people in the UK still live with their parents.
You're either are lying about your age range and are a clueless boomer or you live in a cheap part of the USA.

I'm not but my two eldest children are quite a lot older than that and still at home.

I'd imagine it would be about finances. You could have such a great head start if you managed to save on rent by living at home during early adulthood.

I lived at home as long as I could. Where I live(NYC/NJ area), the cost of living has always been insane.
Renaci · 36-40
This is America. No one can afford their own house.
