I take my swats like a man

I’m 18 and graduated high school but still live at home with my strict parents who continue to paddle me when I break a rule. Do any other adults still living at home also get paddled? Oh and am I the only one who’s dad tells them before paddling you to take it like a man? My dad does every single time.

@jshm2 Oh, looky here, we both got downvoted – looks like we touched a nerve!
You are being treated like a child and/or abused. If I were in your position I would move out. Time to take control of your life.

P.S. when you raise kids, don't paddle them. World Health Org has studied it.
* Evidence shows corporal punishment increases children’s behavioural problems over time and has no positive outcomes.

* All corporal punishment, however mild or light, carries an inbuilt risk of escalation. Studies suggest that parents who used corporal punishment are at heightened risk of perpetrating severe maltreatment.

* Corporal punishment is linked to a range of negative outcomes for children across countries and cultures, including physical and mental ill-health, impaired cognitive and socio-emotional development, poor educational outcomes, increased aggression and perpetration of violence.

@ElwoodBlues Apparently someone who supports child abuse disagrees. 😠

Take it like a man, thank him for raising you ike a man, and, like a man, move out. This controlling, abusive environment is hindering your real life growth.

But... What did you do to get a paddling? If you're still acting like a child even though you know the rules and the consequences then you have no complaint. What are you doing with your life at the moment that prevents you from moving out?

If you handle it like that it will make you tougher over time. My mom used to hit me when i was a kid. I learned to block. Later in life i became a martial artist. I have a tolerance to pain. You might not always be able to change the situation, but you can change how you deal with it.
@GuyWithOpinions Submitting to abuse is no guarantee that one will become "tougher". That’s just an excuse abusers use to justify abuse. 😠

@bijouxbroussard not submitting. Viewing what you cant change in another way. If you submit it will cripple you because you will feel helpless. If you stand and defend yourself you will become strong.

My parents said we were too old for the strap when we were 12.

You should be a good boy. Your dad is right
@jimjim1969 That’s sick.

You’re an adult now so you can move out and get away from the abuse.

Well, either behave or move out. You know the rules and I suspect that paddle has kept you from doing a lot of stupid things.

@Jorgillo Clearly the OP isn’t consenting to this, which should be obvious.
Jorgillo · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard yes clearly. And this makes me mad. But I can't do anything. Can I?
@Jorgillo Alas, none of us can. 😞
