A neighbor threw away all her family photos

They were found near the dumpster
.
.
BlueVeins · 22-25
People will assume all kinds of stuff about her, but she probably just digitized them. Wish you wouldn't share other people's shit online without their permission.
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@BlueVeins why are you here looking at it then if it offends you that much? She shouldn't be leaving her shit near the dumpster out in the open then.
revenant · F
@BlueVeins If you throw into the trash it is not really yours anymore. If she really wanted stuff not to be found she ought to have burnt the pics in my opinion.
Emjay · 18-21, F
@BlueVeins I like the digital upgrade explanation. I'm thinking of doing the same with my old family photos. I might keep a few of the very best.
Lostpoet · M
*steals them and pretends i have a lovely family*
calicuz · 51-55, M
@Lostpoet

Haha..... best comment. 🤣
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
So what. Nunya business what other people do.
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@zonavar68 and it's none of your business what I post so, move along now.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@Pinkglitter I think this post is pretty unique and different from the norm around here. Nice change of subject for once.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
Shtty.

Both my grandma's took scissors to massive collections. My ma caught her ma before she wrecked all of them but on my dad's side there was almost nothing that could be saved.

Sad. Old age. I've already distributed all I could gather and warned the kids not to let someone with memory issues have them unsupervised.
revenant · F
Wow..there must have been major drama going on ! finding out that the life they had was a lie ??
revenant · F
@cherokeepatti This is a really nice thing to do ! Very thoughtful of those people. When you throw away pics or lose them it is a bit like losing their souls.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@revenant we had a tornado here a few weeks ago and it stayed on the ground for 26 miles…starting in the south part of the city and moved to the east. The people who are running the Rodeo grounds have set up a collection room for things people are finding for people to come look & see what they have there that might belong to them.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@revenant
When you throw away pics or lose them it is a bit like losing their souls.
Interesting you put it like that. At one point some people though cameras were devices to capture someone's soul.

Come to think of it, maybe there IS some truth to that after all.
Pfuzylogic · M
That is some of the most valuable family memories. I find that happens when a person doesn’t have a permanent place to stay.
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@Pfuzylogic I agree, I think this person had some kind of drama with the people in the pictures maybe they are her in laws or just family she does not get along with.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Pinkglitter
That scenario seems very likely.
eyeno · M
I rarely keep photos, but i do remember the good times as if it were yesterday.

Some people need to get rid of the past to move forward.
SW-User
But why would you share their photos?
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@SW-User what's it to you?
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
here's another one.
revenant · F
@Pinkglitter They have a bit of a filipino look but they could be Thai , Laotian or Cambodgian perhaps looking from the temple
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@revenant I think they are Vietnamese maybe because there were some products from vietnam in the same box near the dumpster.
revenant · F
@Pinkglitter ah yes !!!! I thought about Vietnam and then...hmm some are catholics but many have retained buddhism..

I would go for Vietnamese !
What are people supposed to do with big heavy albums full of photos if they've been left by deceased family??? I rent I don't have room for storage like that
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@metaldog throw it all way all your family's memories in the trash how great.
CestManan · 46-50, F
Photos shouldn't be thrown away, even if they are scanned they should be preserved. Especially old print pics because they just cannot be replaced. Even the negatives might degrade over time, IF they are even available.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
That’s so sad she did that.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Pinkglitter My sister loves to do mean things to people, she is sadistic. She filled a stack of spiral notebooks with things she wanted to do to people she knew, things she was planning on doing to them, and things that she had actually done to them. I heard my name was in them a lot. I wished i could have read through all of them before they were trashed by another sister.
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@cherokeepatti she sounds like a sociopath I hope she's stayed away from you and others. People like her are unpredictable and snap randomly.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Pinkglitter Let’s just say after my last bout with her when I thought she had better meds (which don’t work on a personality disorder) that I made up my mind not to go around her any more. She texted me many times and I never responded. I’ve seen her walking when I was driving down the road and I keep going.
Teirdalin · 31-35
Probably belonged to a grandma or mom or dad or grandpa and they passed away and whichever person received them just threw it out.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
What would motivate someone to destroy the family connection?
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@Quimliqer drama or maybe there was a death in the family recently.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@Pinkglitter You’re right. Thank you for weighing in!
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
looks like she cut up this picture of a woman.
revenant · F
@Pinkglitter Oh major drama going on ! You do not know this neighbour ?
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@revenant we've only said hi to each other but I've never talked to her on a personal level she's an older Asian lady. She always seems drunk though maybe that's due to the family drama.
SW-User
Did you save them from the dumpster? I think I would have. I’d feel bad if I let someone’s memories especially a friends be destroyed. I probably wouldn’t try to give them back. I would just take them home and put them in a cupboard if one day she brings those pictures up.
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@SW-User some guy who is temporarily staying here took them.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Now that's quite sad.
HappyCamper74 · 46-50, M
That's sad. 🙁
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
This gives me dementia vibes. Imagine if she has random photos of people she see as complete strangers. It sure would have made me throw away them.
Magenta · F
Aw, hmm.
I've thrown many (not all) away. They just become clutter. Looking back at them is more sad than happy.
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@Magenta I think she threw them away out of spite.
Magenta · F
@Pinkglitter I wondered. Hope she doesn't regret it.
popmol · 22-25, M
rookie numbers! my family has 20 times that!
popmol · 22-25, M
@Pinkglitter yeah i wasn't sure to answer, as i misread the post! i thought it was look at this nice family its big and i was like mines bigger! but as soon as i noticed it was about throwing it away i felt sad ;(
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@popmol oh, I see haha and yeah, it's sad and creepy that she did that.
popmol · 22-25, M
@Pinkglitter creepy maybe but sad definitely, do you know why?
calicuz · 51-55, M
Maybe they went digital and are comfortable with everything being in the cloud. 🤷‍♂️
Pretzel · 61-69, M
I'll be throwing mine out after I get them scanned
It seems quite eery actually and sad. 🤔
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@Nihiless yeah, that's what I was thinking it just seems off.
tenente · 100+, M
i don't know if i want context to this 😞
Pinkglitter · 31-35, F
@tenente family drama I'm assuming maybe a death in the family.
