I'd say similar, but different. However, they love talking politics, I despise it.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@mariannezap Ugh. Whenever we get together I try to steer our conversations away from politics. I'm not always successful though. Lol.
mariannezap · 31-35, F
@SubstantialKick Just smile and nod, give mild, "Yep" agreements, and go to your happy place. That's what I do.

When my parents were alive you could speak about anything but no loud angry outbursts

Kinda. My dad's more of a classical liberal while my mom is very anti-establishment. I do have views from both of their standpoints, but I also have several right-leaning views as well. I guess you could say I'm more of a moderate or a centrist or whatever you want to call it.

We agree on most things, but we also strongly disagree on several topics. We usually avoid discussing politics, though.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@Ducky My family all votes Democrat but mostly leans conservative, and while I do share some of their views, most of mine are pretty liberal compared to them theirs.
I do not talk politics with anyone.

@DealWithIt Wisest choice
@Elessar When people get on the topic of politics they turn to monsters.
No, I’m really, really lucky that way. Even the religious people in my family are progressive and anti-GOP, especially because of the MAGAs.
Aidan · 26-30
Only occasionally, once I chose not to vote democratic and my mother said I was brainwashed. I’m moderate though don it’ll probably happen again.
Yes mostly religion but it's all related. I just try to avoid getting into weird topics with them.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
Yes. But I live in a world where who you vote for is as private as your bank balance.

Not on the big issues. The debates usually happen in the details.
Elessar · 26-30, M
Parents, not much. Relatives, a few.
DDonde · 31-35, M
Yes, but it's never really been an issue. My parents, while more conservative, have always leaned independent and in general mistrust partisan politics.
tenente · 100+, M
yes, i'm conservative and my father is liberal (as was my mother)l / no politics is not the reason for my dysfunctional relationship
@tenente You’re conservative ? But you’re so cool ! 🤨
tenente · 100+, M
@bijouxbroussard lol 😂 i only seem liberal because i believe hurricanes are caused by high barometric pressure and not gay marriage
