I have a weird nostalgic fascination with Outback Steakhouse

My mom used to take us there every weekend when we were kids, so now, eating there gives me a safe, cozy, comforted feeling.
Isn't the human brain interesting?

I miss Ponderosa.

We never ate out. Never.
But my sister got a job when she was 16 at Ponderosa and it was the first time my family got to go eat out. In fact it became a bi-weekly thing for a few months while she worked there. I was in heaven.

That was 50 years ago.

@LunarOrbit yes!!! My mom took us to Outback but my dad loved Ponderosa (used to be Bonanza), so he took us there any time he felt like dining out. I remember their salad bar so well!

@DearAmbellina2113 Good times. And good food!

This reminds me of when I, as an Aussie living for 25 years in the national capital, went to one of these franchises in the US and saw, among other strangely titled dishes on the menu, 'Canberra Chicken'. I thought, hmmm, I've never heard of Canberra Chicken.

I like that place too.

I only went there once (a year ago) & it was because the girl I was dating wanted to go.

She ordered chicken tenders 😂 I was like y'know that's cool & all, but why go to a steakhouse for chicken tenders?
Maybe they had the best chicken tenders or something idk lol
Yes. We like the familiar.

Too bad they hugely increased prices years ago.
