Are you a new Prepper? With everything going on in the world are you concerned?

How are you prepping? What are you buying? What are your plans if everything goes south? Tell us all about it.
Stock up on foods with a long shelf life. Water capture and filtration system. Don't let gas tanks get below half. Have alternative fuel sources available heating/cooking. First aid kit. Cash on hand. Booze. Guns. Lots of ammunition. Have a bug out plan.

@texasborn89 if things devolve enough, yes, you're right. Cash is handy initially if financial systems go down. Much beyond that, the barter system comes into play.
@Stereoguy Hopefully, it doesn't come down to that.

It's probably not a stupid idea. 2024 might be a year of liberal antifa BLM crazy person insanity if Trump runs, and wins. I wouldn't want to be out and about in that case.

I have enough food in the house right now so that I can eat for a month without leaving my apartment. It started when we had to have enough food in the house in case we had to isolate for Covid, but I find it to be an intelligent policy.
4meAndyou · F
@Mardrae Just saying it will probably get to the point where we won't be safe unless we lock ourselves down.
Mardrae · F
Why? Because a Republican would be in office again? Maybe inflation will go down if a republican is in office again. At the rate we’re going now, we’ll end up being in a communist country soon. Already, the United States is so much worse off and here we have a president running the country who reads the wrong parts of his cue cards. It’s really scary. Trump may have been a crude womanizer, but he was a businessman and gas was under $2.00 a gallon and people could afford to eat. @4meAndyou
4meAndyou · F
@Mardrae I think the crazies will riot, loot and burn if Trump is re-elected. I absolutely hate what Biden has done to our country, but we need to be realistic. The left are almost all rabid Marxists and they will not let go of power easily.

Living so far in the mountains, the pandemic and the rise in prices.... has confirmed that we need, a must..to be prepared. We have two freezers filled with meats and veggies from the garden in them. We purchased ready to eat meals with years of shelf life. We have 3mos of any thing we need from can foods to laundry soap..and hand soaps..vitamins.. first aid kits... to water. And like BizSuitStacy we have guns and loads of ammo. Plus gallons of gasoline for our vehicles and generators.
The greenhouse is nearly finished and cold frames. We have cash in the safe.
Is all hell going to break loose... don't know. But what has occurred in the past couple of years... which is unbelievable...we can not rule out that hell could be knocking at the door any time. Sad but true.
We want to live as self sufficient as possible!
I am happy to know that at our age... we won't see the worst of things to come. ...hopefully! I would hate to be youngsters during this period of time. Morals and intelligence are not ... present even now! Too many people don't know how to think for themselves!
We live in our own little bubble here. We are happy and secure!
I feel like the last cowgirl in this day and age 🙃

I started collecting precious metals, mainly copper and lead. I have enough of these to last me 20 years unless I get hung up in prolonged contact with those who didn't prepare. I am in the mountains, plenty of game, plenty of fish, lots of farms, potatoes and corn, things like that. I don't think a huge stockpile is a good idea for me, I don't have a fortified enclosure to defend. If I have to move, I would have to take my stock with me. I figure if the SHTF, I just need to stay away from others for a month or 6 weeks. By then, the herd will have lost the weak and infirm. Anyone close to a large city is in trouble.
Boleuskas · M
I live in Bosnia, former military, forward recoon, two tours in Afghanistan, do ai really need to say how prepared I am? 🤣
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Groceries, supplements and other essentials, putting those back for the future. If the prices come down and the shelves stay stocked at least I won’t have buy a whole lot in the next year to come. Have a rocket stove to cook on and a barrel full of branches for fuel.

@Stereoguy I can cut more branches if I need them too. Even use pine cones that I find etc. I still need to get some other things, jars of honey (very healing for sore throat and inflamed stomach among other things) etc.
texasborn89 · 31-35, M
i have some food stored up i don't think people know how bad the world will be likely in the coming days and months people just don't seem to care or realize that its about to get really bad a lot worse than it already is
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@texasborn89 there are people who have never stocked their pantries with much because they eat in restaurants so often and they don’t like to cook. If they think they can go to restaurants and eat because they have $$$ while everyone else is having a hard time buying enough to eat they may be in for a rude awakening. I was born on a farm so it was a habit we had to stock up for the winter and put food back. People need to buy pantry basics to cook with and learn some basic recipes to use those food items. Or they may be in a world of hurt.
PatKirby · M
Started two months ago with canned soups and tuna. Whatever is in my cupboard, you can quadruple it with what's in my attic now. Thinking of buying precious metals.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@PatKirby you sound exactly like my best friend. He has MRE’s and silver (more affordable than gold or platinum ).

I've been a prepper for years. I'm not giving any details about my preps, but I will say stock mundane things (just to name a few) like insect repellent and sunscreen.

I have started taking steps. I’m slowly getting stuff together. Today, I heard someone say war is coming to Europe in a few weeks, and I’ve also heard world leaders and politicians speak of nuclear war. Liz Truss, the new UK prime minister was asked if she felt okay using nukes, and she replied that she’s ready.

I know. I think the Elites want most of the population dead, while there are reports of them heading towards their luxury bunkers. @Stereoguy
