Do you know how to make a cup of tea ?

SammyJo · 51-55, F
Obviously! It's part of the Citizen Test in the UK; You can't do it, you can't come in....sorry, but that's the rules...

A person that can't make a cup of tea? One step above child molesters in my eyes...

🙄

@SammyJo Woohoo - national treasure!
Royrogers · 61-69, M
@SammyJo brilliant should be an immigration rule
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Yep! Down to water temperature and time per type of tea.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Oh hell yes. Just did. Water must be boiling when poured over the tea, and I like to warm to cup first. I prefer mugs to delicate tea cups but then I’m a guy.

Put water in lower tea pot and make it hot. Put tea leaves and hot water in top tea top and let sit on heat. Mix from the two pots as desired.

@SW-User Greattt
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
It's not trivial. There's quite a process that's been developed for it. Optimal materials, preparation, temperatures and times. It all effects the product.
Straylight · 31-35, F
First, microwave a cup of water. Then pour in the tea power and mix.

@Straylight I microwaved water to make tea for the first time in my life. I got the idea from English people saying it was a bad idea for some reason.

Always in a pot with proper tea leaves.
Lanyx · 41-45, M
I got two methods, depending if it is black tea or red tea (fruit).
Black tea, I follow the normal procedure:
Bag in the cup, hot water, wait, pull out teabag, add sugar, add lemon.

Red tea:
Sugar in empty cup, hot water, stir, drop teabag, forget about the tea, find the tea when it got cold, drink it like fruit juice.

Yes unlike some American women I have met
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
First you BOIL the water, then you pour some in the tea pot to heat it, and then pour it out. Then you put in the tea and follow it with more boiling water, let the tea steep a few minutes, then our -- straining the leaves out if you;re picky.

OR you toss the cup in the microwave for 9 seconds and toss in a tea bag.
PoorSissy · 46-50
Absolutely. I live on tea, and drink several different kinds depending on the time of day. I never use pre-formed teabags such as Lipton’s—I have empty teabags that I fill with loose tea.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@amihan] yes warm the pot first when you have applied the boiling water give in a good stir with a spoon then let the pot stand for five minutes so it can brew

Boil at least 6 cups water, fill tea ball with tea, place it inside the pot, and then add the boiling water. Allow tea to steep for about 4 to 6 minutes.

Pour.
Tom610 · 61-69, M
Not what would be considered a proper cup. I can pour hot water over a teabag.
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
I live in England. It's considered a life-skill here ;-)
Ozdharma · 61-69, M
Using real tea leaves is important in a pot. It is a dying art.
Anon066 · 31-35, M
I think you put a tea bag in hot water but I'm not a teaologist.
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
And hot water. Hot water makes it better.
Biguy · M
Yes. I use a secret ingredient
Ozdharma · 61-69, M
Yes with real tea leaves not bags.
Larksky · M
Do you want to make it right away?
You could say that.
jackson55 · M
Yep, but I prefer coffee.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
Warm the pot first!
MrsRachelEvans · 26-30, F
