Do you have family members that you purposely don't speak to?

And maybe they don't even exist, to you?

Beyond the immediate family of my parents and one half-sister, I pretty much only interact with the rest at funerals. It’s generally not malicious - we’re just not a close extended family. Purposely I have a couple cousins I avoid because they creep the shit out of me and a half brother who doesn’t think I should exist so I don’t look for any communication there.

I have never talked to cousins from my father's side. It's weird but that's how it is. My family is pretty reclusive and asocial but they're on entire another level. There's about 10 year difference between us so it was pretty understandable when we were kids but nothing changed over time. Whenever we came for a visit they closed themselves in their room. If they came out they sometimes barely acknowledged they had a visit, just went to another room to grab whatever they needed and headed back to their room...Sometimes without any greeting at all. 😅 They are like total strangers to me. If we had to converse for some reason neither of us would know how to start and what to say.

@CrazyMusicLover After all these years, I've never been close with my dad's side of the family, despite living so close to them that my immediate family would hang out with them by default, when visiting relatives.

@SubstantialKick Things like that just happen. 😆

I feel totally disconnected from them and it wasn't like that... Distance in many ways made it happen..
With others I don't just feel like have common interests
