Pride, more than stubbornness, I would say. I am too proud to call my own son and ask him to get together with me on Mother's Day...and he never thinks to invite me out on his own. I am so proud, that I won't ask.

I never considered myself stubborn

Oh yeah. I spent 10 years married to a man who was a narcissist. If I hadn’t been so stubborn it wouldn’t have taken that long to divorce him. I should have cut my losses sooner and moved on. We didn’t really know much about narcissism back then. They just touched on it in psychology class one day without going into the warning signs and other things that would have clued people in on it. Have learned more from listening to psychologists on YouTube, some who have come from families with narcissists in them.
