Some people don't understand

@Justafantasy it's fascinating to me. The lack of etiquette.

It's now 12.39am... we had already discussed my trouble with sleeping and there was mention of me getting some rest.

I thought that was a polite way of agreeing that although I've stayed up later than usual it's time to leave.

My take is the guest wants to go home for his or her reasons. It does not mean the party is over.

A third poll option might be "party on"

Or the homeward bound guest and the partner want time on their own

In the words of Martin Lawrence.. when a party ends, that guest needs to "Step!!! Get the stepping" out the door. That or you can tell them "You can go anywhere but you can't stay here".

The host wants to call it a night and it's time for me to leave.

That the host is tired and I’ve overstayed my welcome. 🥺

@bijouxbroussard my mum decided to continue watching the green mile a film we've watched a few times, despite me showering and changing into pajamas.
In the end I asked if she wanted me to pack her some food and started the shutting down process. Ie turning the TV off . The Xmas lights and closing the living room door. When she went to the toilet, I told my partner . It wasn't fair for me to go to bed and leave her watching TV until you got home to drive her back.

They've now been gone 30 mins when she lives 10mins by car.
