Aww honey my only advice is to do what makes you feel the most comfortable and be happy.
Psychologykate41-45, F
@SandraB I ended up wearing my shoes. And keeping them on in the house for a while. But I have been barefoot in the house most of today. Nobody cares. Boyfriends sister is also barefoot indoors and boyfriend and bro in law are in socks.

@Psychologykate That's good and would appear so much more "normal" to wake up and remain barefoot. I do tend to find a barefoot girls and socked feet boys split here too.
Psychologykate41-45, F
@SandraB strange isn't it. I wonder why that is?

I love going barefoot too, but honestly I鈥檇 be more comfortable wearing shoes from the car into the house for an initial meeting. Then I鈥檇 take them off.
Psychologykate41-45, F
@HeavenBesideYou this was my first thought to be honest and probably what I'll do. But boyfriend was like "just be yourself". I told him "I'm probably gonna have a bloody epileptic fit in front of your family at some point this week. Don't you think that's enough of me being myself?"
We decided I should poll you guys and see what the suggestion was 馃槀
You get exactly one chance to make a first impression. You already know not wearing shoes "is going to be uber weird."
Wear them to the door and take them off once you're inside. Nobody will think twice, even if they aren't a shoes off at the door kind of house.

I would put my shoes on to meet them. Then when you feel comfortable ask them if they mind if your barefoot.
I completely understand the barefoot releasing tension.

I imagine his advice is going to be better than anything we say since he actually knows them... so yeah, go for it
Egg0156-60, F
Other - whatever works for you but mostly shoes for me as I live in Scotland 馃ぃ
Psychologykate41-45, F
@Egg01 we're in the UK so yeah it's pretty cold here too 馃槀

Since I drive barefoot, it wouldn't matter too much. What I would do is get out of the car barefoot and put your shoes on for at least a few minutes and if you see that everything is cool with his family, then go ahead and take them off.

Shoe dillemas aside did the first meeting go ok?

It's always weird arriving at a someone's house and not knowing if they wear shoes or not indoors anyway馃槙
@carolinehugz I found it interesting in moving across the country that here in northwest more people take shoes off inside a home than i found to be the case in the east.

It's also worth mentioning, that many public places have a no bare feet policy.
I have a foot/flip flop fetish

take off those shoes!
Adec75751-55, M
Did you do indoor p e in bare feet or plimsolls?
Psychologykate41-45, F
@Adec757 bare feet as it was the rule. But I don't see how that's relevant here...
Sidewinder36-40, M
It's your decision. :-)
Abbenthewarwolf18-21, M
