I never actually caught my dad (I was young at the time and didn't think a lot of it at the time but mom and him fought over it often)….but My dad worked in a gas station and there were many times I can remember that he'd often get a phone call at home and it was most often a woman (customer who dealt at the station) having trouble getting their car started, he would go out to help them and would be gone for anywhere from 2 to 4 hours at a time. Looking back on it and remember the arguing about it between him and mom, then throw into the mix that he actually made a move on his own daughter-in-law (my wife)….it isn't hard to put 2 and 2 together. Did it actually never really happen that he cheated on my mom? It's possible, but the evidence is that it is highly probable that he did.

@SomeMichGuy Actually the hardest thing for me was to sit there watching my dad die. I was literally looking at two different people at the same time...on one hand I was seeing my father who was dying, and on the other I was seeing a man who pushed me aside in favor of my adopted "brother" and attempted to molest my wife. My mind was back and forth for most of that night.

@indyjoe oh...wow...how...how hard. sheesh. I am sorry that you had to wrestle with that as he died.
I think it shows in a very personal & painful way that most people are, indeed, a mixture of some of humanity's best and worst impulses, that we are often shades of grey...
The hard thing about _that_ is that you were in some ways struggling with how to react to your father & his passing, and THAT--your reaction to him--is actually one of the few things you CAN control in life. I do not envy you.
