Life is change. And the change isn't always for the better. 😞
Yet even bad changes can make anyone stronger.
That's a very hard lesson to learn. Because it goes back on itself.
Most only would look at the negative part and not even think about the later part.

You can do everything, say everything be the best damn person in the world to someone... Show up when you're needed, be the friend you wish you always had when there was no one and it STILL won't mean shit because some people just don't appreciate what they have no matter how long they have it.
When I was young I had NO friends but my older sister until she was murdered when I was a freshman in highschool and just going into foster care and rehab. After that I genuinely understood what it really meant to NEED a friend. I swore if I had any I'd definitely let them know they matter.

The cult of liberalism is evil, and turns good people hateful and violent.

This past Summer I tried dating a friend whom we were friends for several years and things only lasted 10 days plus she ended our friendship.
I'm not a good friend because I like to be alone a lot.

I'd say "To thine own self, be true."
I had a best friend for a long time who took his occasional dabbling with drugs, specifically pills, to a level that became untenable to continue being his friend. Following a long time of patience and trying to walk him away from the ledge it became too much. Taking his stuff on, and his behavioral changes, started to really negatively impact me. So I, along with some of his other friends, had to step away.
He ended up dying from an accidental (we think) overdose. He went from having his shit together to not. What was weird is that I didn't real feel a real sense of grief. It was his call. But I was glad I put myself first in that situation. I tried but failed.
So at a certain point, cutting friends loose if they're not making you better is a clear form of self-preservation. And there's nothing wrong with that.

That even 40 year old friendships fade overtime - people change and drift apart.

Nothing ..virtually all I've ever had my whole adult life were bad friends. So life truly is better with no friends now, compared to what I used to put up with

Get married and nobody wants to know you at all

Everything including friendship is temporary.

They'll only tolerate you so long.

That nothing is permanent. Even the best of friendships end and that's ok. Just keep moving forward into a new chapter and never look back. Took me a good few years to learn that though.
BlueVeins · 26-30
There's a big difference between someone liking you and someone liking the attention you give them. Which sounds obvious, but experiencing it was the only way to really get it through my head.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
No matter how good they treat you in the beginning, be sure to observe how they treat others; usually, they have not gotten around to treating you badly yet.
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
That no one can ever be trusted.

Just because you can't have them in your life doesn't mean you don't miss them terribly.
