What's the place where you grew up like nowadays?

The place where I grew up in Northern Illinois is a sadly a crime ridden dump, now. Prior to the mid-2000s, most of the crime in the town was confined to the low income subdivisions on the southeast side. But in the mid 2000's it really started to deteriorate, and by the time we moved in 2011, crime had spread to other areas including the subdivision where I lived.

I grew up partly on the west side of Columbus, Ohio and as it became rougher my parents moved in the early 1970's to a country subdivision. The West side went from blue color to ghetto as Columbus grew and pushed the Ghetto folk into the west side. The country area my parents moved us to with a one school system became a thriving set of suburbs on the East side of Columbus now with a three high school system and still bombing. I moved when I was 19 and never went back.
