Um..
Id still say yes.. I ll take being rich. Thank you. All those things you mentioned is what people who are not rich say.
Id much rather have rich people problems than poor people problems.

You're looking at money as a goal.

It is the only way you would lose motivation. You have achieved your end goal.

But money is a means that can fulfill plenty of goals and endless possibilities.

I have lived poor as dirt and I have lived well off. I prefer not having personal financial problems. I can focus on other aspects of my life besides the silly basics like paying bills and sudden death because I can't afford the medication for my tachycardia.

Yes, it is. Next question. 😅 Never having to work for the rest of your life and still live comfortably must be amazing.
If work was just optional and I wouldn't depend on it with my comfort or even life, I'd be much more motivated to get the right job for myself that I'd enjoy.
I think if one was rich, one would be able to afford to do whatever one wished.
Doing nothing would be a day off from travelling, eating out, going to shows and concerts.
Very little would be beyond your reach, the possibilities are only as limited as your imagination.
Whereas when one is poor, the possibilities are limited to one's means.

@Mindfulness You are exactly right.

I wonder if being able to afford to do anything you want to do whenever you want to do it takes the 'special' out of things that we look forward to now. One of my disappointments is the way for example, Christmas has been extended and built on in such a way that the special day is no longer as it was. The commercial drive to make everything exciting and different has managed to suck everything from anything 'special'. In the same way, I think that being able to have everything every day would become dull very quickly. Perhaps that's why extremely rich people are so unhappy and need to grab things like power to make themselves feel special.

Money does not motivate me so much as being free of money worries. I have big objectives in life. When I can free my mind from the daily struggle for survival I will have more time to pursue my goals.
I've NEVER had a "Gee, I've got too much money" problem.

💯% sure I can manage what ever amount more comes my way better than any less.

As the saying goes, money can't buy happiness, but it can buy you a nice car so you can drive around and look for it.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
No because the only things that "matter" in life are the things that are independent of money. I do whatever I want all day and it means nothing to me, I become bored very quickly. So I give myself many tasks, so many tasks that I never have enough time to complete them all and that I never have to think since when there's nothing left to do, that's all I do
BlueVeins · 22-25
If you can't find motivation to do stuff without your livelihood depending on it, I think that indicates a certain weakness of spirit. You could do ANYTHING you want that makes you happy. Write a book. Paint some pictures. Open a fuckin' bakery. Doesn't even have to be profitable, just have fun with it.

Being rich doesn’t mean you don’t work.

Most rich people acquired their riches from working hard, not from being lazy and slothful.

I go to work every day in order to help people.

That's the myth that they would like you to believe. I don't know about most, but many inherited their wealth and then built on that.

It's so lovely to hear you say that you go to work to help people. That attitude enriches the world with something more than money.

I think some tolerable struggle makes things more meanginful.

Hmmmm, I would love to see what it's like to be rich. I can guarantee I would not be bored. 😊
Musicman · 61-69, M
We are not rich, but we have a little money and are retired. Before my wife's health issues we use to enjoy traveling and exploring in our motorhome. 🙂
Yes. It would be soooop horrible to set up a foundation and move the needle for real ppl in need.
Fertilization · 36-40, F
To maintain balance in society, one should donate 10 to 20% of their earnings.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Fertilization Paying all the taxes due without shielding your wealth would be a good start . .
@Fertilization Yeah, right
