I'm glad you are paying attention of him. Poor kid. I really hate bullies. Do whatever it takes to educate them that it is not right to insult and make fun of someone.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@iamelijah absolutely
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@iamelijah Children ought to have reasons to look forward to going to school. When they are bullied that ruins their school experience and they’ll dread going.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@cherokeepatti exactly, that's why i stopped the class, and stopped what I was doing to address it.
texasborn89 · 31-35, M
unfortunately usually if they act like that it's because of their upbringing or their parents act like that in front of them or they're having a hard time at home there's usually a reason why they are bullying people. not defending bullies or anything like that I'm just saying that something is going on underneath usually. they're only doing what they see their parents doing. I know sometimes the parents genuinely don't know that their kids are bullies too though. hopefully the mom is a good parent and will stop the behavior immediately
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@texasborn89 oh I agree. It's always other factors. When I called mom, she wanted to speak to him but the class had already transitioned. I believe she'll handle it. At least that's my hope
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Well done. Bullying in all forms needs to be tackled at the source of it will become endemic 💖

Call Mom, send him to the office, whatever it takes. One of my wife's great moves when she was teaching was to call Grandmom -- THAT scared a lot of the kids 'cause Grandmom had no compunction about walking into the school and slapping the kid upside the head while telling him to stop screwing up.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@ChipmunkErnie oh I most certainly did. Got the assistant principal and called his mom.
I agree with grandma, some kids aren't scared of mom
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@iamnikki My wife had kids tell her, "You can't call my parents, they're at work." So my wife would pick up the phone in the room, consult her records, and call the work number -- Dad was rarely happy about being called out a a meeting because his kid was misbehaving in school.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@ChipmunkErnie oh I bet he wasn't happy. Some of these kids are ridiculous. Some are great though

U did good
Every teacher should b like that
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Good work!

That bully is likely going through something rough or in the receiving end of bullying from someone else. That doesn’t excuse what he/she did but maybe needs to be looked into
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Jenny1234 oh for sure. When he is throwing his tantrums I tell him "use your words". I can't help you if you don't use your words.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
You need to come done hard on that sort of thing so they know its not acceptable behaviour.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Thevy29 oh I did.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
How did the child that was called a name react?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@cherokeepatti she really didn't react,or at least I didn't see the initial reaction, because I didn't know who he was talking about initially.
On the way out of my class and into the next , as I told them goodbye, she gave me a big smile and a wave. I knew that meant "thank you" 😊
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Good luck. I hope it goes well for you.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
You are doing Gods work with these kids today!
