I work at an elementary school and heard a student call someone something really mean while in my class...

At first I was like, " no, I didn't hear that".

I asked " what did you say?"
And a kid verified what I heard.

I was soo upset.
I will not tolerate name-calling, and RACIAL name-calling makes it 10 times worse.

The poor kid (that was being talked about) looks sad alot, and isn't always wearing the cleanest clothes, but that doesn't give the right to talk about people.

When I asked the student to apologize, they walked off and threw things off the shelf in my room.

This isn't the first time kid has done that so I called mom.

I told the other kids I won't tolerate bullying and that I'd call their moms too if I hear anything like that coming out their mouths.

It was quiet as a mouse 馃悂

unfortunately usually if they act like that it's because of their upbringing or their parents act like that in front of them or they're having a hard time at home there's usually a reason why they are bullying people. not defending bullies or anything like that I'm just saying that something is going on underneath usually. they're only doing what they see their parents doing. I know sometimes the parents genuinely don't know that their kids are bullies too though. hopefully the mom is a good parent and will stop the behavior immediately

@texasborn89 oh I agree. It's always other factors. When I called mom, she wanted to speak to him but the class had already transitioned. I believe she'll handle it. At least that's my hope
