my bmw was recently recalled because of a wiring fault and a danger of it bursting into flames
@impressionist That's scary. I think GM had a similar recall for ignition switch fires a few years ago.

the negative battery terminal and the wiring to the heater matrix had to be replaced and modified

Our 2008 Subaru Outback had a recall because of the passenger side airbag. You may remember that a few years ago, a lot of car companies had issues with a certain manufacturer's airbags. Anyway, because of the back log of recalls for this airbag, Subaru recommended that people not ride in the front passenger seat until they could get it replaced.

At the time, my wife was driving me to work every day (we only have the one car), and my wife being my wife insisted that I ride in the back until we got the airbag replaced. I felt like a git, but OK.

After a couple of weeks of this, I started getting on the phone doing my best not to yell at the local dealership (love Subaru cars — hate the local dealership) to get on the ball and get this thing fixed. It took about a month all told, me riding to work in the back seat twice a day.

Ford has had major design flaws since the 70s. Things like that are exactly why I won't buy a Ford. Ever.

Edit: I do like the older ones still. Up to about '73 they had a good product in general.
@UckfayOuyayOotay My first car was a Ford Escort 5 speed that was nearly trouble free besides normal wear and tear until the day that it died. That Windstar van though was a different story. A/C compressor, faulty board for the instrument cluster, rear main seal leak, transmission issues, and cruise control problems. Sister also had a Ford Taurus, that blew it's head gasket at only 11 years old and 73,000 miles.

3 recalls on my Nissan Grand Livina - I haven't driven it for years, someone else uses it but its still on my name, so I get all the notices...hectic!

My car, Toyota Yaris, was recalled to have the airbags changed, the originals were found to be faulty apparently. Fortunately I never had to find that out before they were replaced.
@Zoranna Either they could suddenly gone off without warning, or you could have gotten into a collision and they didn't deploy...

@latinbutterfly Yep, I'm aware of that now but wasn't until they were all recalled.

Yeah, had a windstar. Disaster. Haven’t bought a Ford since.
