I think because of the blatant and continued greed of oil dependent nations, wars will continue. I also think because of this greed they will continue to destroy and pollute our environment. Oil is BIG money and BIG business and those who have the most to gain refuse and have very little motivation to move to any other type of clean fuel source. That said, I don't think the earth will be uninhabitable, I simply think that it will be much more polluted, cancer rates will continue to climb, global warming will continue to be a problem (whether it's convenient for some to acknowledge it or not), and the wars will continue to rage on.

I give mankind 40 years...tops!
We are all vulnerable... If anybody destroyed our water or power, for an extended amount of time... say, 4 days... there would be rioting in the streets! (I can't really speak for other countries but Americans seem to think they're very entitled!)

It seems to me that during this time of worldwide chaos and destruction we see the worst. I believe when we have used up all our natural resources and we have nothing to make our most important resources such as oxygen and water we will start dying

My crystal ball is in the shop right now so I'll have to wing it. Sometimes things need to get really bad before they get good. I think it will get worse then reverse itself.

Looking up for sane, intelligent people...

@wildbill83 what makes you think so ?

because the more the world becomes computerized, digitized, the less stupid people are aware of reality...
smart phones for example...
an entire generation of kids walking into walls, into oncoming traffic, etc. because they're entirely focused on their phone...

"smart" technology isn't improving the world as much as people think. It's only creating a situation in which people can't function when the technology fails...
An intelligent person uses technology to supplement knowledge (and can function without it)
Morons use technology to replace knowledge... (and can't function without it)

History tells us mankind will do great things and fuck up a bunch more.
Milkshake · F
@StevetheSleeve what makes you think that ?
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
@Milkshake Like I said, history. It is filled with bloody wars, new diseases and crazy leaders. But life can still be good generally.
Allelse · 36-40, M
Its looked worst.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Milkshake So you're saying you're confused? Alright let me explain it to you in a way that's abit more simple, so you understand. During WW2 most countries were in a state of 'Total War' which led to 60 million deaths. Maps were redrawn, countries made and unmade and so on which means meant that at the time the future of mankind would have looked very bleak. Now!!! At the moment we all have nukes which makes it unlikely for the great powers to ever be in a state of total war with each other ever again, no we'd much rather have our smaller allies kill each other on our behalf. Our only real problem is what we're doing to the planet which can be dealt with a HELL of alot easier methods then trading the lives of 60 million people to birth the modern world. A modern world where we no longer fight such large scale conflicts because we're all in possession of nuclear arms.

Nuclear weapons has effectively prevented large scale conflicts.
Technology is on the rise.
Crime is decreasing.
Technology has provided wide spread knowledge.
I truly think the world is currently undergoing a new age an a new way of thinking we haven’t ever seen.
It’s in its infancy right now because it’s so new. An it has a lot of things to work out. I think the potential is enormous regardless.
But it’s also feared because it’s so new. it’s overwhelming for them.
