When I was 5 years old it came a fast blizzard on December 24 and my sister was in 1st grade at school. It came so quick that the buses couldn’t drive in it. We had to call a family friend to get her, he walked to the school and walked her to their home. Then he walked to the dime store and bought her gifts. It dumped about 30 inches of snow. My favorite thing was that my sister didn’t get home for about a week (snow plow got stuck on the road)...it was peaceful for a week cause she bullied my sister and I. And we got to make snow ice cream and play out in the snow each day.

@MeAgain Yes she talked about it. She got to stay with the family and had a few gifts to open. We also got to go on a sleigh ride around the farm later on. My uncle got pneumonia from wading the snow to feed the animals and milk the cows every day.

Sleigh rides on a farm seems like a charming, pleasant memory. Although she had gifts, I think being on a farm would trump it. @cherokeepatti

@MeAgain It was nice to do even if only once, like something you’d see in a movie about the turn of the century. We had a large pasture and the sleigh was left from the pre-tractor days. The farmers up there in Northern Missouri started buying snowsleds for the winter so they wouldn’t have to wade the snow like my uncle did. I heard some of the big farms up north had tunnels from the house to the milk barns.

I spent many an hour shoveling sunshine off the driveway in the winter down here in Florida.

I live in Texas so it doesn't snow. But one year it snowed. A lot (for us). Myself and a friend walked around the neighbor hood playing in it. I remember making snow angels in the street😃...Also one time, my siblings and I took moms laundry baskets and slid down the driveway and in front of our house. She wasn't too happy lol

Spent some time with two of my neighborhood friends at one of their homes. We went out sledding and had a snowball fight, attempted to build an igloo. We failed but had a good time. When we got back to the house we warmed up with hot chocolate and then had a small food fight. Walked home very content with a hot cup of tea.

I was probably about five years old, and the windows in our living room were low to the ground. There was about one foot of wall above the floor before the window started, and the snow was up above the windows.
Twas the night before Christmas, and I remember sitting there, my heart filled with all the magic of Christmas Eve, looking out at the snow and the little flakes coming down. There were tiny crystals of ice forming on the window, like stars sparkling, in the light of the Christmas tree. They were magic.

blizzard of 93/94. alot of snow, then a melt/refreeze; drifts over 15-20ft high in places you could walk on top of. you could ski & snowboard down some roads for miles; sledding down the side of mountain in a white water raft /w about 10-15 people was fun as well...

I spent a winter in Scotland as a small child and learned all about faeries from my ancient great grandmother.
We'd go for walks in the highlands in the snow, and she'd tell me all about the "wee folk". Best memories.

That sounds like an amazing winter. Have you passes on any of the stories? @Cavedweller

As kids we always went sledding up at the hill, all the kids in the neighborhood would walk there. But the best times were when my Dad would go with us. He’d take the toboggan and spend hrs with us.

Playing in the snow for a long afternoon, coming in to soak in a bathtub full of warm water, and then having a delicious supper in my pajamas.

Playing football in the snow. It was so dumb and fun at the same time.
