Does where you live have many heat waves?

Australia is having another heatwave.
Yesterday many centers reached 47/48 C. Fruit Orchards are being decimated because the fruit is being either cooked from the inside out or are being severely burnt on the vine by the continued exposure to intense sunshine.
Today temperatures in some areas are expected to reach 50 C.
There will be many millions of Air Conditioners running for extended periods of time. Road bitumen will melt. Railway tracks will buckle. Power Stations will become overloaded and shut down. 100's of 1000's of Native animals will die from heat stress. Wild Fires will decimate forests and communities.
A rosy future to look forward to indeed

That's awful! I hope you stay safe. I used to live in Phoenix Arizona where the temperatures would be well above 115 in the summer for weeks on end. Can be extremely dangerous.

I think it's supposed to get up to 45° here this week...

Fahrenheit that is 😉

Outdoor canvas awnings, and A/C. Both due for Upgrades quite soon. But they are hanging in there for now.
🤯 50°C!!! You guys will be boiling at that temp....😨
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Vivaci That is the ambient temperature, in the shade. Very unpleasant to be outside. Unless one sits in a Pool, a River or the Ocean.😓
@Gusman I've stayed in 40+°C climates before. We used to have shahbadi tiles and our helpers used to pour water on those tiles which evaporated in a matter of few minutes...but then that cooled down the room.

No but last summer we got one when our Ac was broke
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Lexia Makes it hard to sleep in those conditions.
One way we reduce the effects of the sun is to have trees covering the windows or have window shutters. Have total blockout curtains to keep the inside as cool as possible.

@Gusman yeah

This makes me so sad
Gusman · 61-69, M
@KaysHealingPath Seems to be what we have to look forward to every summer now.

@Gusman that’s horrible
