my hubby has these topics — astronomy, and environment and ya usually one sided cause no one cares about them as much as he does. soon as he starts a sentence with “did you knoooiwww....” people disconnect.

@SW-User i’ve told him people just wanna socialize - they don’t want to be educated - that makes them feel dumb unless they express interest that they WANT to know.

SW-User
@NiftyWhite It's often easier to talk at people than to talk with them, but the latter is where the really rewarding conversation comes from.

@SW-User i agree. he’s more interested in topics/things than people though. he can sit all day and watch youtube about life on mars or whatever.meanwhile on earth life is going on all around him lol.

art history and sociological theory, but I don't ever meet anyone else that's into the same things as I am. It doesn't bother me, I'm used to it.

SW-User
@SW-User Same. No one I know cares about linguistics or sea sponges. But I love to talk about them 😬 At least after talking about them, people usually admit that it's interesting even if they didn't expect it to be.

SW-User
@SW-User Well, at least people respond well to it. *-* People assume I'm a social justice hippie when I talk about social stratification and postmodernism and stuff.

SW-User
@SW-User Yes, I find sometimes I have to avoid buzzwords if I really want people to listen. If you say "intersectionality" or something along those lines, no matter how valid a topic it may be, they may close their minds automatically!
Postmodernism is always good for a discussion 😁

I can talk endlessly about anything as long as I'm given two facts about a topic.
The shizer that will spew out of my mouth as I passionately talk and defend it is like no other.
Then again, I'm British. Arguing and debating is what we do.

Yeah. That's pretty much the upper-wealth of England.

Politics; Religion/Spirituality; Military; Societal Reforms. I am A *classical* philosopher of sorts, in addition to being an Occultist Magician. 😉

Not really. If there’s a new angle to an old argument I might get reinterested

SW-User
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Otherwise you may end up beating a dead horse, eh?

@SW-User can only lead a horse to water.. if it won’t drink, you gotta shoot it and get a new one 😏👌

Well I use to be able to do that with computer programming. In fact I did once to someone that thought she was into computers in general.
Not really I use to be really passionate about human behavior but now I don’t really care about much of anything really 🤷🏽♀️
Ishtar · 22-25, F
