Try a couple of stick insects (Diapheromera femorata) also known as walking sticks.

They're practically zero maintenance and quite fascinating

I think part of the "good pet" calculation involves the relationship.
Pet rock: super easy to care of but no relationship.
Elephant: great relationship but super hard to take care of lol
