I have been able to go to a beach yoga class twice, they were fantastic! The sand shifting constantly underneath my feet made it a lot more challenging, was super fun.

@NewRaven how far is it to a beach for you? I like beach yoga a lot too. Yeah I remember the one legged stance issues on the beach in yoga class. I would make sure standing leg knee was not locked and if the pose called for my toes to point forward I would still angle them at about 10-15 degrees out . Those two things helped me with one legged stances.

@robertsnj I’m farther from a beach than I’d like. About 12 to 14 hours depending which beach. That’s why I haven’t been able to do this with any regularity

@NewRaven that is far! Man if indoor yoga studios created a beach atmosphere with a sand yoga stage and a big tv in the background showing ocean waves I wonder if that could boost attendance enough to justify the cost over say a 1 year period.

@robertsnj that is a great idea

@NewRaven hard to say. It probably would be expensive to do. Big financial risk. The other piece is that many outdoor yoga instructors use beaches and parks specifically to avoid the cost of a brick and mortar location. It sounded good when I typed it but now that I took time to think about it --that instructor would need to be pretty comfortable with risk to take on a venture like that.

@robertsnj all fair points
