Fitness advice needed.

I’m on a journey that is trying to lose weight and gain muscle but I’m seriously having trouble getting motivated in doing it.

At the moment I’m trying to do a workout routine (I did this about 3 years ago and it helped me massively) but the days I’ve planned to do it isn’t going to plan.

The workout program is called T25 and the program is only 25 mins long, so as I work 4on 4off (7am till 7pm) I try to do the workout when I get home but I literally have no energy to do it so that is my excuse of not doing the workout which makes me angry at myself as it’s only 25 minutes long. So the next best thing is for me to do the workouts on my 4 days off which I have done but when I try to carry on the program when I do get home from a 12 hours shift I put it off and make an excuse to myself to not do it.

Would losing weight and gain muscle work it I did it on my 4 days off then not workout for 4 days then back on the workout 4 days later.

So number one rule of losing weight isn’t your workout routine but your caloric intake. Make sure you are in a caloric deficit - eat lean proteins, whole grains, fruits and veggies so you can feel full longer between meals. Avoid highly processed foods and alcohol as much as you can during your weight loss period.

To answer your question, I generally find doing workouts better in the morning when I have more energy than at night when I’m done for the day. Doing your workout during your 4 off isn’t bad as long as you’re not overtaxing yourself and not having intentional rest days in. But even on your rest days it’s good to build in “active resting” - intentional movement like light walks and such to keep you moving.

The key is consistency. Doing a little bit every day can be better than going hard twice a week. Couple that with good sleep and diet and you should see results.

Good luck!

Just keep at it. Keeping trying and see what works for you during this time.

Maybe just eating different to boost energy. Try different vitamins maybe could be helpful.

Do it first thing in the morning when you wake up it's only 25 min long.
