Can performing barefoot improve athletic performance?

Ive been told that if you complete in some sports like tennis and pickleball,or even track and field, and you go barefoot ,that it can help you move faster and give you more stamina. Is that true?

I think it's more about technique, rather than more stamina.
I heard of some runners posting faster times when they ran barefoot.
They avoid heel strikes so they may be in a position to push themselves forward sooner than wearers of running shoes, with every stride they take.

Zola Budd (British athlete of South African birth) used to run track in bare feet. That was how she was brought up.

@GentleLucille I don't know about that one. With running track?I can believe it might make her faster, but if I were her I would have been constantly worried that someone would step on my toes.
