One of our Fourth of July traditions when I was a kid in the country was to shoot fireworks. The annual climax came when I would shoot a Roman candle that set fire to the dry grass, causing a frantic search for brooms, shovels, or anything to fight the fire because the garden hose wouldn't reach that far.
