The initial agreement about steel has blossomed into something really wonderful

Getting as much of Europe into this would help with getting out of a parochial mindset...unity is a good thing, and a single currency is more efficient.

The EU would do better to retvrn to its origins as a Catholic project emphasising distributism and peace as Adenauer, de Gasperi, Monnet, and Schuman, all intended.

The other European countries in the EU need to step up and insure equal rights for all membes.

That has always been the accusation. Except that German and French outlooks on economic, social, fiscal and military affairs probably couldn't be further apart. Not the best foundation for an "empire".
