Can someone explain something to me?
What is the problem about wearing a mask that covers just half of your face? I really don't get why some are still crying about it 馃.

I think the bigger question is why are so many vacinnated or previosuly infected people scared to show their faces again ? It's the new social phobia...
I had covid and was vaccinated back in March since I have COPD. Masks make it hard for me to breath. I'm not wearing one just to make paranoid people feel better. I'd hit the mega millions before I got or spread covid at this point.
The whole mask thing was Fauci lie anyway. My wife is a nurse, medical professionals all knew the masks they OK'd were only good for bank robbers to hide behind. At work they wear the high end masks not what you see people walking down the street with.

@jezme It's rather simple actually
1) It's not yet clear whether vaccinated and convalescent can still transmit (for a short while) in spite of no longer getting sick. Therefore, until everyone is given a chance to get their shot, the safer approach is to continue getting masked.
2) Cloth masks are inferior to medical grade PPEs, yet still much better than nothing at all.
3) There is a whole world outside the U.S., who doesn't get its policies from Fauci, and where the rules are the same (if not even stricter).

@jezme I think part of it is that people don't fully trust the shots. We get vaccinated, but we have no guarantee that it will actually do the job. Personally, I don't go anywhere without my mask, not because of my fears, but because of the fears of others.
@LordShadowfire I fear that these vaccinations will lead to yearly vaccinations and it will all be to make Big Pharma even more money.

@Pitchblue They've been rolling out since January over here. If people who received a single dose were as likely to be hospitalised as people who received none, we'd know by now.
If the issue is only testing positive and spreading, it'll cease to be an issue once everyone who wants to has been vaccinated.

@Pitchblue It most likely will turn into annual like flu shots are. Viruses evolve as they are seeing now with Covid. I just find it ironic people ignore how many die of the flu. Imagine how many the flu would kill without flu shots being available. Goto the CDC site and look at deaths frmo flu by year. There was one year where 80K died with the annual shot available.
You said most people only got 1 shot. It's going into June now, there is only 3 weeks between doses so I don't think you are correct.

The masks people are wearing are not about protecting themselves. They are about protecting you in case they are sick and don't know it.

@LordShadowfire There is no standard for what you can wear as a mask. It could be a bandana. A mask is type of filtration, filters are measured in microns. These home sewn masks are a joke, hold them up to light and you can see through them.
It's the anything is better than nothing that is the BS. They have created hysteria and given little guidance on what actually works. In fact studies have shown that some materials can actually atomize droplets further.
If you wonder why many don't buy into the whole mask debate that is part of the reason. As I said before I had covid, I have the antibodies plus I was vaccinated. I'm done wearing masks to appease others that don't understand the science of masks and air filtration.

@jezme I absolutely agree that the homemade masks are a joke. But I don't think you're listening to what I'm saying. There are plenty of companies making decent quality masks for very little money.

Health regulators surely know better than me and you whether and which types of masks function; if it was simply a matter of filtering droplets and there weren't other mechanisms taken into account you'd be mandated to wear a FFP2/N95, or a HEPA filter at most.
